Why Cersei Is Most Likely To Win The 'Game of Thrones'

Cersei, or as she is being called The Mad Queen recently by the fans of the series is being speculated to be the winner of the Game of Thrones and it might happen most likely.

Only two episodes are left as 'Game of Thrones' wraps up and the race for the Iron Throne is really heating up. But the main question still remains, who will end up on the throne? As it stands so far, Cersei Lannister sits on the throne and Daenerys is aggressively trying to take it from her. But, will she ultimately be able to protect her throne or will she be overthrown? Here we have listed out all the reasons as why it wouldn't be crazy if the Mad Queen is the one who ends up sitting on the throne.

1. She was made to retain the throne

One of the most fascinating aspects of Game of Thrones is that the women in the series are much much smarter than their male counterparts. Cersei's smartness holds no question as she has managed to outsmart numerous enemies, including managing to stay alive after the Night King/White Walker invasion. Even though many people call her a narcissist, it needs to be kept in mind that all her violent actions in order to stay in the Iron Throne come after the prophecy where a witch foretold her future. In the prophecy, the witch mentioned that one of her brothers will kill her and a “younger and more beautiful” woman would supersede her on the throne.

2. Qualifications and experience

The name holds all the importance when you are staying in Westeros. Cersei grew up watching her father, Tywin Lannister, who is undoubtedly one of the smartest, most cunning and effective leaders Westeros has ever known. Even though his plans to marry Cersei with Rhaeghar Targaryen did not work out, she did get married to Robert Baratheon, who took the Iron Throne. Their marriage brought peace in the seven kingdoms which is something that will need to be done once more. Her marriage to Robert also showed her firsthand the pitfalls and dangers of what it truly means to rule the Seven Kingdoms from King’s Landing. She is also a survivor and has managed to defeat the likes of Ned Stark, Stannis Baratheon, the High Sparrow, House Tyrell and Martell, and thus far Daenerys Targaryen.

3. Her advantage in the upcoming war

Right now, Cersei has one of the most powerful armies in the Westeros. If we compare her army with that of Danaerys' right now, it is clear that she has the upper hand over here. Cersei's army is battle-ready and Daenerys’ has been wiped out and is likely tired from fighting the Army of the Dead. Sure, Daenerys has a dragon left, but if she’s going to win over the people, she can’t use them the way she did against the Night King. Additionally, Cersei is also aware of the Valonquar prophecy, hence she is ready for anyone who will and try and stab her in the back.

5. Her claim to the throne

After Tommen's sudden and tragic death, no one was left in Westeros with any sort of blood claim except Gendry, who is a poor bastard of Robert Baratheon, who does not possess any formal education or training. Cersei might have become Queen through marriage, but her claim to the Iron Throne is stronger than anybody else's. Even though there are a few people who are loyal towards the Targeryans, the numbers are not too high, especially after the battle of Winterfell. Most subjects would prefer a native Lannister to a Targaryen who grew up in a foreign land after her crazy father was rightfully deposed.
