The G.I. Joe fictional movie is finally taking shape and it is a fictional character that has been taken from the comics books.
After Paramount Pictures confirmed that a spin-off of G.I. Joe movie will be an origin story, a few recent reports suggest that the solo movie will be centered around G.I. Joe's resident ninja and the training he received with the Arashikage Clan in Japan. As reported by That Hashtag Show, the movie is going to focus on Snake Eyes as a young adult traveling to the Asian continent after becoming a street fighter in Peru. Over there he will train along with Thomas, aka Storm Shadow before he went bad and became a part of the evil Cobra Organization.
The movie will also be eyeing the three Arashikage masters from the original comics and cartoons who are named as the Hard Master, Soft Master, and Blind Master when he accepts an offer from Storm Shadow's brother, Kenta, to join a rival ninja clan called the Kurayami. It is also believed that the new clan will also feature their alliance with the terrorist organization, thereby making the path clear for the Snake Eyes to become a Joe, and they might be setting up the accident which will see him lose his voice in battle. Kenta is the only character in the movie that is said to be created exclusively for the film.
The filming of the movie is expected to begin in late spring 2019 and given the fact that they have just started to factor in piecing the movie together, the cast of the movie has not been decided as of now. It is reported though that Ray Park will not feature in the movie. Given how successful the MCU is, many movie studios are hoping to create their own successful cinematic universes. Paramount is hoping that they will be able to bring the 'Transformers' franchise on the right track with 'Bumblebee' and it makes sense for the studio to want a separate cinematic universe of their own and taking this first step seems like the correct decision to go forward.
Of course, the latest spin-off movie will not be a successful Hollywood blockbuster until and unless there is an angle of someone being a love interest, and the online reports also suggest that Snake Eyes and Storm Shadow will be involved in a love triangle with a soldier named Akita, who is associated and working for Arashikage and has a long history in the comics with both warriors. The tentative release date for the movie is reported to be March 2020 and it will be directed by Robert Schwentke, whereas the script of the movie will be handled by Evan Spiliotopoulos.
