The first season of Netflix's 'Sacred Games' opened to rave reviews and since now we know that season 2 is coming, here is everything you need to know about it.
Netflix officially confirmed that the Indian Original series will be coming back for a second season. The news was officially confirmed n Netflix India's Twitter account at the end of 2018 and the filming of the series had already started in November 2018. A mysterious video about the series was posted along with a caption that read, "The worst is yet to come. Sacred Games will be back for Season 2."
The vice president of International Originals at Netflix, Erik Barmack, said, "We’ve been thrilled by the response to Sacred Games from fans worldwide, and especially in India, to this high-quality production. It’s incredibly exciting for us to take the story of Sacred Games forward and open a new chapter in the series with its second season.” The show had met with a hugely positive response, apart from receiving some controversy and a petition to remove some scenes. The series is based on Vikram Chandra's epic 1,000-page novel of the same name. The first season was adapted from the first quarter of the book, and if Netflix follows the entire story until the end, fans can hope for four seasons. Barmack added, "India is seeing the biggest and fastest investment in content for any country we have launched in.” Here is everything we need to know about the second season of the series.
Even though there is not a full-length trailer available yet for the second season, the streaming giant has dropped a season two announcement teaser that gave the fans a taste of what they might expect in the upcoming season. The description of the teaser reads, "Ganesh Gaitonde's story has only just begun. Thirteen days gone, Bombay has twelve left. This game isn't quite over."
At the moment, all we know about the series is that it will be 'coming soon'. The shooting of the series was wrapped up back in February 2019, but the first season did not air until July 2018 last year. Going by this, it seems we have to wait for a month to watch the second season.
The first season had eight episodes. If there are no huge alterations, the same number of episodes can be expected in the second season.
It is confirmed that Sartaj Singh, played by Saif Ali Khan and Ganesh Gaitonde, played by Nawazuddin Siddiqui will be back along with Sobhita Dhulipala, Harshita Gaur, Kalki Koechlin, and Ranvir Shorey. Jatin Sharma will also reprise his role as Bunty. Speaking to Hindustan Times regarding his role, he said, "The second season goes into a flashback. My character Bunty is in a wheelchair. So I need to harness and control my natural energy level to play a subdued physically limited character." Other than that, both Kukoo, played by Kubra Sait and Katekar, played by Jitendra Joshi will also be back as confirmed by the video below. Pankaj Tripathi will return as Khanna Guru Ji.
