The plot of the series revolves around a dating app that alerts you when someone within a 10-meter radius is interested in you and the drama that unfolds in the lives of its users. Initially, this Netflix drama was announced as a 12-episode series of which just 8 episodes have been aired. The hit series was renewed for a second season after only airing eight episodes, hence it seems highly likely that it will definitely be back for a second season. Here is everything you need to know about the second season of the hit Netflix series.
Netflix has officially announced that Love Alarm will be returning for a second season on August 22nd, 2019! The cast made a video on YouTube confirming the renewal.
It is a South-Korean series that features a dating app that can tell the user if someone less than 10 meters away is attracted to them. Although the app initially attracts a large following, it soon begins to wreak havoc in the lives of its users who begin yearning for the days of simpler romance. It is mainly focused on three teenagers Kim Jojo, Hye-Jojo, and Sun-Oh. Jojo starts a relationship with Sun-Oh when she is already in a relationship with someone else. They initially kiss each other but had no romantic feelings, hence it was very platonic and it was also done just out of plain curiosity. After this incident, Sun-Ho tries to understand why his best friend Hye-Yeong would like someone like Jojo while Jojo is simply curious about this new student in her school who seems to know her. Of course, her boyfriend Il-sik eventually finds out about the incident and we learn that her relationship in the past was purely convenient, not just for her but for Il-sik as well.
During the end of season 1, best friends Hye-young and Sun-oh get involved in a complicated love affair with Jojo, and the biggest question that is looming over the head of the fans now is who Kim Jojo will pick to be her lover. Even though Jojo doesn't want to fall in love again, by the end of the first season she is clearly attracted to Hye-young because of the comfort that he would provide her, versus the exciting thrill that she had felt with Sun-oh. Even though she has been told that she might not ever be able to ring Hye-young's 'Love Alarm', he feels that his love would be enough for both of them. Sadly, because of a shield that she had added to her Love Alarm when she went through her phase of heartbreak over Sun-oh, she is unable to now differentiate between her feelings for Hye-young or Sun-oh. Although they were able to manage to get the shield removed, her app rings with two hearts - one each for Hye-young and Sun-oh and as the shot zoomed out, the finale came to an end.
The main cast of the series includes Kim So-Hyun, Jung Ga-ram, and Song Kang. They are expected to return for season 2. Other casting announcements have not been made by Netflix yet, but we will be updating this section with the full cast list as soon as it becomes available.
