The Michael Myers saga is coming back again with the third and final installment of the 'Halloween' trilogy series.
The Michael Myers saga is coming back again with the third installment of the Halloween trilogy series, Halloween Ends. The new reboot trilogy started in 2018 with Halloween, set 40 years after Laurie Strode survived Michael Myers' killing spree in the 1978 film of the same name. Jamie Lee Curtis and Nick Castle reprised their respective roles as Strode and Myers. This was followed by the second installment, Halloween Kills, which was released on October 15, 2021.
In this installment, Strode, who was previously injured in Myers' attempt to kill her, incites the townspeople to come together to end the serial killer's reign of terror over them. The end of the film suggested that there is more to come, which we will see in the third and final installment, Halloween Ends. Here's what we know so far. There may be spoilers of the previous films ahead.
In Halloween Kills, we see Laurie's daughter, Karen, stab Myers, and the townspeople essentially beat him to death. Or so we think. Myers then rises and proceeds to kill the violent mob as well as Karen. So the reign of terror is far from over, and Laurie is still hospitalized. The next film will probably see her take on the serial killer.
The previous film started moments after Halloween ended. But this film will be set after a period of four years has elapsed. It will apparently include events that have taken place since 2018, including the pandemic. David Gordon Green spoke to Uproxx and gave a glimpse of what to expect. He stated: "So if you think about it, I mean, where we're leaving these characters on Halloween 2018, the world is a different place. So not only do they have their immediate world affected by that trauma, having time to process that trauma – and that's a specific and immediate traumatic event in the community of Haddonfield. But then they also had a worldwide pandemic and peculiar politics and another million things that turned their world upside down."
So far, it is for sure that Jamie Lee Curtis and Nick Castle will be reprising their roles. Andi Matichak will also be back as Allyson. The previous film was a bloodbath as Myers went on a deadly killing spree, and most of the people of the town, including some key characters, have been killed. The surviving characters, Deputy Frank Hawkins, played by Will Patton, Sheriff Barker, played by Omar Dorsey, and Lindsey Wallace, played by Kyle Richards, will be returning. There may also be some new faces.
Since this is the last part of the current trilogy, there has been mention of the possibility of killing off some major characters with the end goal of finally ending Myers' murderous ploys.
The film was originally supposed to be released on October 15 of this year. But the pandemic pushed the release of the second installment to this year. So the final installment has been pushed to Fall next year, right in time for Halloween. It is set to be released on October 14, 2022.
The filming of Halloween Ends will begin in January 2022. Green will be returning to direct the film.
