Gypsy Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

It's been quite a while since we last saw Naomi Watts as Jean. Is Netflix working on bringing the show back for a second season? Let's explore.

Naomi Watts in Gypsy

Netflix's Gypsy captured the attention of many of its users. Gypsy starred Naomi Watts who plays the role of a psychologist named Jean who infiltrates the private lives of her patients. It was a gripping drama but it's been six years since the first season premiered and fans are wondering if we are even going to get another one. Well, as always, we are here to set the record straight. Let's explore.

Will Gypsy Return For Season 2?

Netflix has officially canceled Gypsy and the show will not be returning for a second season. The show premiered on Netflix on June 30th, 2017 and was canceled only a month later.

Why Was Gypsy Canceled?

Gypsy's cancelation came as no surprise to many. When the show first came out it held a 26% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The ratings have gone up since then, now standing at 84%. The early reviewers of Netflix shows were apparently a bit harsher than they are now. The show also had quite a low viewership at the time and Netflix was not interested in spending more money on the show, instead, pumping their resources into other more successful franchises.

Naomi Watt's performance was highly praised by critics but everything else fell flat with critics complaining about the show's painfully slow pace and storytelling. But, now that the show's ratings are up, maybe there is hope for a new season. There have also been numerous campaigns to get the show renewed. The most prominent are the #GypsyMatters billboards.

Naomi Watts saw the billboards herself and said: “Feeling warm and fuzzy about this discovery. What a lovely gesture!!”
