Well, the answer is both a yes and no. No, because there is not going to be a second season, but the silver lining here is that they originally planned this show to be a sixteen-episode show, so now the second half will be released as a part of the same season. So, it's technically not a second season, but who cares, a set of episodes is all that the fans wanted.
Nothing as of now... all we know is that the cast has already been paid, and the writing is almost done. The filming is yet to begin, and when it does, it is scheduled to be finished in 2024. So as far as the release is concerned, we won't be seeing the next part until late 2024 or early 2025. Also, some sources mentioned that the shooting was halted because of certain reasons, and Netflix has decided to commission it as a two-part series now.
God's Favorite Idiot Season 1 focuses on a tech employee called Clark Thompson, who mysteriously gets struck by lightning and learns he has been chosen to become God's own messenger. Being naive about his role in the grand scheme of things, he confides in Mellissa McCarthy's Amily Luck, who is no less of a disaster than him but clever enough to help him out.
