After a satisfying season 2 ending, can we still expect the Morales family to return for season 3?
'Gentefied' season 2 finally released on Netflix, but fans can't help but wonder if we will see more of the Morales family in the future.
Created by Marvin Lemus and Linda Yvette Chávez, the series tells the story of three Mexican cousins and their struggles to chase the American Dream while attending to other problems that threaten their neighborhood, their immigrant grandfather, and the family taco shop.
The second season of the family dramedy sees an incredible growth from our favorite characters and ends with a resolution to the main conflicts since the series started.
Will 'Gentefied' still return for more? Here is what we know about 'Gentefied' season 3.
As of this writing, 'Gentefied' is not renewed for season 3 yet. The second season of the Netflix series has just arrived on Netflix on November 10, 2021, which means it is still too early for renewal. Netflix often takes at least a month to track viewership data and decide whether to renew a title or not.
In the past, 'Gentefied' had to wait for around three months before getting renewed. The first season of 'Gentefied' premiered on Netflix on February 21, 2020, and got renewed in May 2020.
Based on this schedule, we might have to wait until February 2022 before getting an official renewal announcement for 'Gentefied' season 3.
However, there is a chance that a third season will no longer happen based on how season 2 ended. Season 2 has closed the plot and tied all the loose endings of the story. If 'Gentefied' won't return for season 3 anymore, at least, the story received a proper conclusion.
There is still no renewal as of this writing, so we can only make predictions based on the release schedule of the past seasons.
As mentioned, the first season of 'Gentefied' was released on Netflix in February 2020. Despite waiting for three months before getting renewed, the show managed to release a new season in late November the following year.
Hence, if 'Gentefied' will get renewed for season 3 in the first quarter of 2022, we expect season 3 to arrive in the fourth quarter of the same year since COVID-19 restrictions have been easing up. These are still predictions for now. The release date will still largely depend on how soon the show gets renewed and enters production.
We will update this space once more information is available.
'Gentefied' season 2 draws the curtains with a satisfying finale. Most of the season tackled Casimiro's court case while adding the life problems of these three kids in the subplots. At the end of season 2, Casimiro managed to win the case and get his green card approved. The final scene sees him paying his respects to his father in Mexico. After all the struggles as an immigrant, he is now finally a legal citizen.
Other characters also had a satisfactory ending. Erik asks Lidia for marriage, Chris decides to pursue a career in Mexico, while Ana and Yessika leave a door open for a possible relationship in the future.
If the series returns for season 3, we expect the story to continue chronicling the lives of these characters. Since the previous season has resolved the leading predicaments of the family, we expect season 3 to introduce new conflicts for the Morales clan to face.
Based on how season 2 ended, the entire Morales family will most likely return if the show gets renewed for season 3. They are Joaquín Cosío as Casimiro "Pop" Morales, J.J. Soria as Erik Morales, Karrie Martin Lachney as Ana Morales, and Carlos Santos as Chris Morales.
Aside from the four lead cast, we will also likely see Annie Gonzalez as Lidia Solis, Bianca Melgar as Nayeli Morales, Laura Patalano as Beatriz Morales, Rafael Sigler as Pancho Solis, Brenda Banda as Norma, and Al Patiño as Chuey.
Netflix often releases trailers a month before a season's premiere. Since we still do not have a renewal announcement yet, it will be a while before a trailer drops. Here is the season 2 trailer for you to enjoy in the meantime. You can watch the full episodes of 'Gentefied' season 1 and 2 on Netflix.
