Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma season five concluded in September 2020. The hit anime series remained popular for many years, with the anime adaptation scoring an astounding 8.1/10 rating on IMDB and 8.15/10 on MyAnimeList. After an epic cooking battle in Shokugeki no Soma: The Fifth Plate, let us find out what's in store for the anime series.
As much as we love to see another season for Food Wars, it seems unlikely for the anime series to return for season 6 anymore. Shortly after season 4 ended, the renewal announcement for Food Wars season 5 came. However, season 5 was also announced to be the final season for the series. Season 5 (Shokugeki no Soma: The Fifth Plate) concluded on September 25th, 2020, and left the fans emotional. Albeit, fans shouldn't lose hope because there are still other ways for the anime to return in the form of OVA’s, a prequel series, or even a movie. We already have five OVA episodes, two episodes in 2016, 2 episodes in 2017, and a final episode in 2018. As of this writing, there are no confirmations about future OVA's or film plans for the hit series yet, but who knows? We will keep you posted on the latest updates.
Food Wars! Shokugeki no Soma is based on a manga series written by Yūto Tsukuda and illustrated by Shun Saeki. The series follows Soma Yukihira, a hopeful teenager aspiring to become a full-time chef in his father's family restaurant. Soma wants to surpass his father's cooking skills. He enrolls in Totsuki Saryo Culinary Institute, an elite culinary school where students engage in cooking battles. Throughout the series, we have seen Soma hone his skills and carve his name in the culinary world.
The final season of Food Wars! was served through Food Wars: The Fifth Plate, also known in other territories as Shokugeki no Soma: The Fifth Plate. Fans had mixed emotions regarding the season finale. Others are sad that the hit series will finally come to an end. One fan tweeted: "Another great series has come to an end! Some fans wished to see more of Soma and Erina's budding romance. "Food Wars w/ 5 Seasons and just ended. And man. Was it a wild ride. I kinda wanna see Soma confess to Erina or something yo! Just that ending episode. Give me an Ova of it or something!!" one fan tweeted.
Of course, others think the ending is not good enough.
