Flash Season 10: Everything We Know So Far

This is a live article and it will be updated as new details come our way about Flash Season 10. This is what we know so far.

Flash Season 10

The journey of Grant Gustin as Barry Allen, better known as The Flash, began with a guest appearance in the second season of "Arrow." Little did anyone know, this would lead to his starring role in "The Flash." Gustin's portrayal of the Scarlet Speedster has been a cornerstone of the Arrowverse, a shared universe of shows on The CW.

2023 marks a pivotal year for The Flash. Almost a decade has passed since "The Flash" series premiered, coinciding with Ezra Miller being announced to play Barry Allen in a solo movie. As Gustin wraps up his successful run as The Flash, a new chapter for the character is set to begin in James Gunn's upcoming DC Universe.

Is "The Flash" Season 10 Happening?

Renewal Status: Ended

Despite maintaining strong viewership in Season 8, "The Flash" will not return for a tenth season. This decision came after Gustin, who had the option of a multi-year contract, chose to sign on for just one more year. In a revealing interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gustin expressed his initial desire to conclude his role in Season 8. However, after agreeing to extend his run to Season 9, he informed the show's executives that this season would be his last. Consequently, the decision was made to end the series with Season 9, marking an appropriate conclusion to both the show and Gustin's tenure as the lead.

What Could Have Happened In "The Flash" Season 10?

Had "The Flash" continued to its tenth season, showrunner Eric Wallace had grand plans, including the assembly of the Arrowverse Justice League. Wallace envisioned multiple crossover events, including "The Forever War" storyline and an adaptation of "The Blackest Night," a highly acclaimed Green Lantern and DC story. The tenth season would have seen the Arrowverse Justice League come together to face an alien invasion led by the villain Despero. Sadly, with the Arrowverse concluding alongside Season 9, these plans will remain unfulfilled.

Will Grant Gustin Make Future Appearances in the DC Universe?

The conclusion of "The Flash" doesn't necessarily mean the end for its characters. There's potential for Gustin's Barry Allen to appear in other DC projects, like the upcoming "Superman & Lois" Season 4. Showrunner Todd Helbing has expressed interest in bringing Gustin onto the show. With the multiverse concept introduced in Miller's The Flash movie, possibilities for future appearances remain open.

Could James Gunn Revive The Flash?

With James Gunn at the helm of DC Studios, there's speculation about whether he could revive "The Flash" for a Season 10. However, given Gunn's extensive plans for the new DC Universe, which includes movies, TV shows, animation, and games, it seems improbable that "The Flash" would return under this new vision. While characters from the show might reappear through the multiverse, it's likely that "The Flash" Season 9 has marked the definitive end of this chapter in the DC story.
