They’re back, Witches. Mark it on your calendars, Hocus Pocus 2 is coming to Disney+ on September 30th. The trailer was released on June 28, 2022, and has received over 1.5 million views already.

YouTube user Isaac Carlson commented on the trailer saying, “Pure hype! I am so excited for Halloween now! And it’s not even the Fourth of July! 🎃” Another user, Dr. Muraki’s Dollhouse commented noting, “Let’s be honest, the Sanderson sisters are what made the original great, and it wouldn’t have been the same without them. Glad each one is BACK! It’s not Hocus Pocus without these ‘chicks.’” Some commented on missing the original protagonists, Skyfaller3D said, “Who else here wished that the three original main heroes, Max, Dani, and Alison returned?” However, most of the chatter online is incredibly enthusiastic and highly anticipating this sequel. One user, Godzillaboy021 commented, “I love the original movie!!!  And seeing them back, brings a sense of joy to me. Can't wait to see the sequel this Halloween!!!!” It’s safe to say that the trailer has been received extremely well.

The Sanderson sisters are accidentally summoned when two high school teenagers do a birthday ritual and the black flame alights, Good Morning America reports. Walt Disney Studios describes the film as saying, “It’s been 29 years since someone lit the Black Flame Candle and resurrected the 17th-century sisters, and they are looking for revenge. Now it is up to three high-school students to stop the ravenous witches from wreaking a new kind of havoc on Salem before dawn on All Hallow’s Eve.” Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy reunite for this highly anticipated Disney+ Original Movie. The ground shakes and cracks to reveal the sisters cackling and howling, happy to be back. The trailer ends with Midler's famous character, Winifred Sanderson, yelling, "Lock up your children! Yes, Salem, we're back!"

The prequel provides the context for this film, answering questions like where the Sanderson sisters come from, why they have been cursed and prosecuted, and why they are looking for little kids. Avoiding spoilers, the original follows the protagonists, Max, Allison, and Dani on Halloween where Max also accidentally summons the Sanderson sisters. The witches are looking for a child so that they can drain their life force so they don’t turn to dust when the sun rises. Max, Dani, and Allison scour to save themselves and make sure that no child in Salem is kidnapped by the witchy sisters.
