Fast And Furious 9 Release Date Pushed Back A Whole Year Because Of The Coronavirus

The Coronavirus has now hit Hollywood releases. Fast and Furious 9 will now be released next year.

Fast and Furious 9 is the most anticipated film of the year. But now, we're going to have to find another movie because F9 is coming out next year. Universal Studios has made the difficult decision of postponing the release of Fast and Furious 9 by a year due to the fast-spreading of the Novel Coronavirus.

Theaters in Italy, South Korea, and China, where the virus has hit hardest are still closed. Because of this, the film will have a limited release and would lose out on millions of dollars. There's also a possibility that theaters in the US will also close which could mean billions of dollars of losses in the box office.

F9 was first set to be released in the United States on May 22, 2020.  However, as of now, the film has been set for a global release in April 2021 and in the U.S. on April 2.

Vin Diesel

Vin Diesel made the announcement on social media.

“We feel all the love and the anticipation you have for the next chapter in our saga,” Diesel wrote. “That’s why it’s especially tough to let you know that we have to move the release date of the film. It’s become clear that it won’t be possible for all of our fans around the world to see the film this May.”

“While we know there is disappointment in having to wait a little while longer, this move is made with the safety of everyone as our foremost consideration,” Diesel added.

F9 isn't the only film that moved their release date. A Quiet Place 2 will no longer premiere in March.

The new James Bond film No Time to Die has been moved from April to November.

It's unclear how long this Coronavirus outbreak will last but right now we're just going to have to stick to Netflix and chilling.
