Fans Think Rupert Grint Was Not Actually Present In Person For The 'Harry Potter' Reunion Special

They believe he was edited into the Gryffindor Common Room with Emma Watson and Daniel Radcliffe.

The Harry Potter reunion was a nostalgic throwback for the kids who grew up watching it. Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts was an emotional look back at what went into the making of the film franchise. The cast of the eights films got together to give us a peek behind the scenes. The first film, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone was released in 2001 and ended with Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 in 2011.

The movie was led by stars Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson who played the three leading characters: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger. The three shared the screen again after the conclusion of the film series. But not everyone believes the three of them were actually there.

The three actors were shown sitting together in the Gryffindor Common Room and talking about their first screen test to their last scene together in the film. But some fans have reason to believe that Grint was not there at all and the cast did not reunite in London. They believe he was edited into the Gryffindor Common Room and shot his whole portion in Toronto where he was working on Guillermo del Toro's Cabinet of Curiosities. To back up this claim, fans have pointed out how a Toronto filming crew was credited in the special. While that may not seem enough to suggest that so much work was put into making it look like Grint was there, fans have more proof.

He also had a section where he is with Watson. They share an emotional moment, reminiscing their time together on set as they hold back tears. They even hold hands and hug. Fans believe they have cracked the mystery because of this section. They have theorized that Watson probably flew to Toronto to shoot this part separately. The proof lies in her nail paint, reported Cosmpolitan. In the scenes where she appears as part of the trio, her nails are painted black. But in the scenes where she's with Rupert alone, her nails seem to be a glittery gold colour. But she's wearing the same outfit in both the shots.

Grint joined the ensemble of Netflix's anthology by Del Toro along with other actors including Essie Davis, Luke Roberts, Andrew Lincoln, F. Murray Abraham, Glynn Turman, Ben Barnes, Elpidia Carrillo, Hannah Galway, Crispin Glover, Demetrius Grosse, David Hewlett, Tim Blake Nelson, Sebastian Roché and Peter Weller, reported Deadline. Fans believe he was busy shooting for this series which is what kept him from the London reunion.

The reunion special was released on the first of January this year on HBO Max. "It was really nice to reminisce because we had some great times. I mean, it was an immensely strange childhood, but it was one that was really fun," he said of his role in the film.
