Doctor Strange paid a visit over Super Bowl weekend in the second trailer for the sequel releasing in a few months' time. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is the second installment of the 2016 Doctor Strange movie. It follows the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021) following the opening of the portal to multiverses, with no idea who could walk in.

But hawk-eyed fans claim to have seen a new face in the trailer. There have been rumors in the past claiming Tom Cruise would be replacing Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. Based on what some fans are saying, this may be happening in the next Doctor Strange movie.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness

There is a shot in the trailer where we follow the journey into the unknown with Doctor Strange who has unlocked the multiverse. This pushes boundaries further than ever before with the help of some old mystical allies and some new, that traverse the mind-bending and dangerous alternate realities of the Multiverse to confront a mysterious new adversary. There is a figure who emerges in a blaze of orange flames that looks like Iron Man blasting off. The face is obscured by bright orange eyes making it unclear who it could be. But fans think it is Cruise.

In this film, we will be meeting the evil versions of beloved characters including Sinister Strange, evil Scarlet Witch, and what fans are convinced is Superior Iron Man. Superior Iron Man is an antagonist from Marvel Comics and is a villainous version of Iron Man. Cruise is speculated to be playing this character. So far it has only been revealed that Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Karl Mordo, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda aka Scarlet Witch, Benedict Wong as Wong, Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez, with Michael Stühlbarg as Nicodemus West, and Rachel McAdams as Christine Palmer will be appearing in the movie.

Patrick Stewart, who portrayed Charles Xavier or Professor X in the X-Men film series, will also be making an appearance in an undisclosed role. But no mention has been made of Cruise. But as per The Independent, there are unverified set photos that surfaced that show the Mission Impossible actor on the sets of the Marvel film. There is also the scene where Steven Strange is being led by Ultron bots, which are created by Tony Stark in the comics.

This led fans to theorize that the version of Iron Man we're likely to meet in Doctor Strange 2 could be Superior Iron Man. You can watch the trailer here and see for yourself if that is actually Cruise:

The movie is set to release on May 6, 2022.
