This award-winning post-apocalyptic anime series is widely loved by fans and critics alike. Now naturally, all the fans are wondering when the second season will drop.
'Kabaneri Of The Iron Fortress' or 'Kōtetsujō no Kabaneri' is a Japanese Anime series that is produced by Wit Studio and directed by Tetsurō Araki. Ichirō Ōkouchi writes it, and Hiroyuki Sawano gives the music score. The anime premiered in Japan on the Fuji TV network on April 8, 2016, and the finale aired on June 30, 2016. The show had a total of 12 episodes, and it was also streamed on Amazon. Apart from that, two compilation movies were released throughout Japan's theaters on December 31, 2016, and January 7, 2017. Many of the series' fans were hoping that the second season of the series would air or at least be announced in 2018, but it looks like the studio had some other plans. Rather than announcing any details about the second season, Wit Studio released a trailer for the Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress movie titled 'Koutetsujou no Kabaneri: Unato Kessen.' But the good news here is that the announcement also hinted that a brand new volume has also been put in place for the series, and that could very well mean another season or a movie is in the order. This anime has quite an interesting plot and mainly deals with what happened immediately after Japan's industrial revolution. It all began with a mysterious virus being spread worldwide, which turns the people into infected undead that are called Kabane. But Kabane is very different from what popular cultures have shown zombies are. They are nearly invincible and cannot be killed until and unless their hearts, which have an iron cage outside of them, are pierced.
The first season of Kabaneri Of The Iron Fortress turned out to be a very successful show for Wit Studio, and the show received the 2016 Newtype Anime Awards for Best TV Anime. The show is an extremely popular one among the fans and critics. The show also has a very loyal fan following who has been waiting for the second season's announcement very patiently. But, there is a good chance that the show is not going to be renewed for a second season since the anime is an original one and is not backed by any previously existing content. While this might come as sad news for many fans, they shouldn't be worried so much since the anime franchise has remained active with three movies released after the first season.
