All the fans of the Isekai Quartet rejoice as we bring good news!
'Isekai Quartet' is a Japanese Anime series and it also serves as a chibi-style crossover between the light novel series KonoSuba, Overlord, Re: Zero − Starting Life in Another World, and The Saga of Tanya the Evil. All these novels were published by Kadokawa Corporation. The anime was adapted as a television series of the same name and aired its first season in April 2019. The second season of the series was confirmed to air in 2020 and is said to include other series such as The Rising of the Shield Hero.
After its confirmation, the series is also said to go to production and it has also been announced that the new episodes will begin airing in early 2020. Apart from that, the official website of the anime series has also teased the fans by asking "What is the true identity of the ‘transfer student’ that Mr. Roswaal introduced?” The primary reason for the series to ask their fans this question is because the upcoming season is not called Isekai Pentet. The reason being the new addition of the characters is being termed as 'Guest Characters', not as permanent additions to the main cast.
The second season is also said to have multiple options for a sequel, so much so, it almost seems funny. Another source has also mentioned that Japanese publisher Kadokawa is also very much aligned on profiting on the hugely popular Isekai genre after the success of other animes such as Re: Zero, KonoSuba, Overlord, and The Saga Of Tanya The Evil.
At the beginning of 2019, the financial status of Kadokawa saw a sudden jump, primarily because of the licensing that was acquired from North America. After looking at the numbers, it was announced by Kadokawa that they will definitely produce one more season and the news was happily welcomed by the fans. The publisher of the show also intended on expanding its business that takes the most advantage of the abundant IP and they also want to focus on creating and 'fostering the new hit series'.
The plot of the anime follows the story that began after the sudden appearance of a magical button. The protagonists in other anime show that are involved in the crossover all press the button and they move to a parallel world. In this parallel world, a whole new story Isekai began. The series is written and directed by Minoru Ashina. The character designs are handled by Minoru Takehara. Takehara also serves as the chief animation director. The animation studio of the series is Studio Puyikai. The first season aired from April 9 to June 25, 2019, and had 12 episodes.
The English-dubbed episodes of the series can be found in Funimation, which also licensed the series. It was added to Crunchyroll on April 23, 2019. The opening theme of the show's song, Isekai Quartet was performed by Satoshi Hino, Jun Fukushima, Yūsuke Kobayashi, and Aoi Yūki. The second season of the show was announced during the finale of season 1 and is scheduled to air in January 2020.
