All Upcoming Movies And TV Shows Starring Daniel Radcliffe

If you grew up in the 2000s, chances are you are very familiar with the movie adaptations of author JK Rowling's Harry Potter series and that you may also be familiar with the name Daniel Radcliffe, who in fact, is the one who plays the titular character himself. Sure, he has starred in a plethora of films since then, but none of his other characters have the ability to make fans laugh and cry all at once as much as his portrayal of the eager young wizard Harry Potter.
 
He developed a fascination for acting at a very tender age of five and eventually made his acting debut at the age of 10 in BBC1's 1999 television film David Copperfield where he played the younger version of the titular character. His time as Harry Potter allowed him to develop a close relationship with costars Emma Watson who played Hermione Granger and Tom Felton who played Draco Malfoy. He would continue to play the character until the last film in the series 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2'. His performances as the character allowed him to be nominated for a variety of awards.
 
After his time as a young wizard was done, he went on to star in a bunch of other mature titles including 'The Woman in Black', 'Victor Frankenstein', 'Kill Your Darlings', 'Now You See Me 2' and also the critically received movie 'Imperium'.

1.  Escape From Pretoria

One of Radcliffe's upcoming movie titles is a thriller feature by the name of 'Escape from Pretoria', which is directed by a relative newcomer Francis Annan. Annan is one of the writers along with L.H. Adams.
 
The film is based on a real-life prison break where three young political activists are imprisoned and escape from apartheid South African imprisonment in 1979. The three activists include Tim Jenkins, played by Daniel Radcliffe, Stephen Lee, played by Daniel Webber and Denis Goldberg, played by Ian Hart.
 
Interestingly, the film is based on a book written by one of the escapees, Tim Jenkins, known as 'Inside Out: Escape from Pretoria Prison'. The film is already gone into postproduction and is set to be released on March 6, 2020. It appears as though her getting a South African Harry Potter by March of next year and as fans of the series, we're looking forward to it.

2.  Miracle Workers

Miracle Workers is an American anthology series based on Simon Rich's novel 'What in God's Name'. The story of the series revolves around the office of God known as Heaven Inc. where God (Steve Buscemi) intends to destroy the earth and two low-level angels, Craig (Radcliffe) and Eliza (Geraldine Viswanathan) try to convince him otherwise. And to do that, the two angels must accomplish their most impossible task to date: finding two humans and help them fall in love with each other.
 
Radcliffe was already interested in the story and was reportedly lucky enough to hold a meeting with the book's author Simon where he said:
 
"I reached out to Simon after I read the book and just said, I love this."
 
The first season was favorably received from viewers and critics alike and the performances of Buscemi and Radcliffe were done pretty well. The series is also praise to the point where it was nominated for the 2019 Teen Choice Awards. TBS has already renewed the show for a second season, which will air on January 28, 2020.

3.  Untitled Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt TV Special

For those who don't know, 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' Was an American Netflix sitcom created by Robert Carlock and Tina Fey and star Ellie Kemper played the lead role of Kimmy Schmidt. The show ran for 4 seasons from March 6, 2015, and ended on January 25, 2019. Then later in May 2019, it was reported that the series will be getting an interactive special which would premiere sometime in 2020.
 
The story focuses on 29-year-old Kimmy Schmidt along with 3 other women who were held captive for 15 years by Reverend Richard Wayne Gary Wayne (Jon Hamm) and is seeking to restart her life with a positive attitude by moving to New York City.
 
For the special, most of the main crewmembers aside from Ellie Kemper will be reprising their roles, including Carol Kane, Tituss Burgess, Jane Krakowski, and Carol Kane among others. As of this writing, the special is in post-production and it won't be long till 2020 comes around. Radcliffe is also said to be attached to this project, though it isn't clear what his role will be and the extent of how it will be played out. But we'll just have to wait and see in the meantime

4.  Guns Akimbo

Finally, the last film on our list is 'Guns Akimbo' which is an action-comedy directed and written by Jason Lei Howden. Radcliffe plays a man named Miles who works a dead-end job and is suffering from a broken heart after his girlfriend Nova (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) left him. All of a sudden, his life takes a complete 180 when his ex-girlfriend gets kidnapped and he has to rescue her by forcibly fighting in a city, expansive game of death through a dark website. All these fights are lifestream to a maniacal audience.
 
Initially, Miles' character is that of an escapist, which means that he'll flee the very moment he sees any sign of danger just to save his own thin skin. However, Miles eventually starts overcoming his fears upon learning that Noah had been kidnapped just so he can savor and perhaps reconcile with her when all is said and done. Other cast members include Colin Moy, Samara Weaving, Ned Dennehy, and many others.
 
The movie is yet to release internationally, however, if you're the lucky ones who attended the TIFF event on September 19, 2019, then you already know what the story is about and how it's going end.
