'Enola Holmes 2' Has Wrapped Up Filming

Here's some good news for Millie Bobby Brown fans impatiently awaiting the sequel.

Millie Bobby Brown is reprising her role as the younger sister of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes in the upcoming sequel to Enola Holmes. The movie has wrapped up filming, according to Netflix UK & Ireland on Twitter. Henry Cavill will be back as the iconic mystery sleuth Sherlock Holmes. The first film was based on the Enola Holmes Mysteries written by Nancy Springer. The six books in the series tell the tale of Mycroft and Sherlock's teen sister, who possesses the same detective-like intellect as her brothers. The books have been nominated for and won multiple publishing awards, and became bestsellers.

The first film followed the story of Enola discovering that her mother (Helena Bonham Carter) had disappeared on her 16th birthday. She is then taken under the care of her brothers who want her to finish school. But Enola sets out to find out where her mother is.

"Based on the beloved Edgar-nominated book series, ENOLA HOLMES tells the story of Sherlock and Mycroft Holmes' rebellious teen sister Enola, a gifted super-sleuth in her own right who often outsmarts her brilliant siblings. When her mother mysteriously disappears on her 16th birthday, Enola seeks help from her older brothers. But soon realizing they're less interested in solving the case than in packing her off to finishing school, Enola does the only thing a smart, resourceful and fearless young 1880s woman can do… she runs away to London to find her. Meeting a cast of memorable characters along the way, Enola's caught in the middle of a conspiracy that could alter the course of political history. ENOLA HOLMES puts a dynamic new female twist on the world's greatest detective and his brilliant family," the synopsis reads.

As for what to expect in the second film, not much has been revealed. Director Harry Bradbeer explained to Decider, as per Comic Book, "I'm excited about the other things that she's going to do. She's such an extraordinary character that we're going to dig out some more secrets about her. If we do go again, there's a lot of issues left in this dysfunctional family. Not only in the country, which is dysfunctional but the family as well. I think it will always be leaning into real historical accuracy, about the history of the constitution and the development of our democracy. And of human rights, not just women's rights. I think that's a very ripe scene to plow. Because if you have an adventure film that has something interesting to say morally, I think that really enriches it and makes it more nutritious."

In the sequel, Helena Bonham Carter will return as the family matriarch, Eudoria. The cast also includes David Thewlis, Susan Wokoma, Adeel Akhtar, Sharon Duncan-Brewster, Hannah Dodd, Abbie Hern, Gabriel Tierney, and Serrana Su-Ling Bliss, as per Bleeding Cool. The film should be out sometime in 2022. Harry Bradbeer has returned to direct, and Jack Thorne has penned the script. "I can't wait to collaborate again with my Enola Holmes family! Enola holds a special place in my heart – she's strong, fearless, intelligent, and brave," Brown has previously said. "I look forward to fans seeing how her journey continues!"
