Eminem’s Stalker Receives Up To 30 Years In Prison

After a second conviction for home invasion, Matthew Hughes, the guy who has pursued and broken into musician Eminem’s house on multiple occasions, was given a hefty prison sentence. Hughes, 32, was sentenced to 15 to 30 years in prison for first-degree home invasion and an additional three to seven years and six months for aggravated stalking, according to reports. The penalties will be administered one after the other.

Hughes was found guilty last month after a short jury trial during which Eminem—real name Marshall Mathers—also testified. The sentencing follows Hughes’ conviction. It is now illegal for Hughes to interact with the rapper in any way or to be within 500 feet of his home or place of employment.

This most recent conviction is related to a second break-in that happened in May 2024, just a few months after Hughes was granted parole. He and Eminem have a long history together. In 2020, Hughes gained national attention after he broke into Eminem’s home and was found standing behind the rapper while he was sleeping. Hughes informed Eminem he was going to murder him, according to police accounts at the time. After accepting a plea bargain, he was given a five-year probationary period, which he later broke in November by committing another assault, earning him jail time.

Hughes was also previously arrested in 2019 for sleeping in a guest home on a property that had once belonged to Eminem and trespassing.
