Those who grew up in the '90s will fondly remember The Mighty Ducks film series whether you loved hockey or not. It was a classic underdog story featuring Emilio Estevez as Gordon Bombay along with soon-to-be-famous stars like Joshua Jackson, Jussie Smollett, and Kenan Thompson. Disney+ is now taking a Cobra Kai approach bringing back old and new characters for a TV continuation of the popular films. The 10-episode first season is produced by ABC Signature and co-created by Steven Brill, writer and executive producer of the three Mighty Ducks films. CNN reports that the upcoming show is picking up 30 years after "The Mighty Ducks" first took the ice. The first Mighty Ducks movie released in 1992. It was followed by two sequels — D2: The Mighty Ducks in 1994 and D3: The Mighty Ducks in 1996 — and an animated series.

As for who's in the cast of the upcoming TV series, The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers, there's Swayam Bhatia, Taegen Burns, Julee Cerda, Bella Higginbotham, Luke Islam, Kiefer O’Reilly, Maxwell Simkins, and De’Jon Watts. While Emilio Estevez is returning to his role as the iconic Coach Gordon Bombay, we also see Lauren Graham in the newly dropped trailer. She will play the mother of 12-year-old Evan Morrow (played by Good Boys breakout Brady Noon). According to EW, Morrow isn't quite up to par with the rest of his teammates as the Mighty Ducks Minnesota-based hockey team is doing extremely well. Evan's mother Alex takes charge to create a team for her son and convinces him to gather a group of ragtag teens ready to challenge the cutthroat Ducks.

Last year, Estevez shared how excited he was for the reboot of the beloved franchise. “Once a Duck, always a Duck!” Estevez said of his return in a statement. “After 25 years, I am delighted to lace up my skates, put on Coach Bombay’s jacket, and return to play the iconic character for this new chapter in The Mighty Ducks franchise. Likewise, I am thrilled to return to my old stomping grounds with my friends at Disney and Steve Brill, the original creator of the franchise, to join them on their exciting new platform, Disney Plus.”

“It was an easy decision to bring back the Quack Attack with a modern and fresh twist.” Agnes Chu, senior vice president of content at Disney+, said in a release at the time, according to PEOPLE. “For a generation, The Mighty Ducks stood for teamwork, friendship, and heart and we’re excited to see the Ducks fly together once again and bring the franchise to new audiences around the world. We are thrilled to have Emilio Estevez reprising his iconic role.”
