Emilia Clarke has been blamed for leaving her cup of Starbucks coffee on the table. The actress is finally speaking up about the blunder.
Every single episode of Game of Thrones season 8 has had a viral moment. From Arya's first time "getting it" to the "too dark" Winterfell battle, fans have all found something to talk about. In episode 4, the one thing that fans can't seem to get over is the Starbucks cup that was on the table. It has since been removed from the scene but not before it got the show $2.3 billion in free marketing....Wowzerz!!
Whose coffee was it though? That's the big question. Emilia Clarke addressed the blunder by sharing a picture of herself, Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister) and Jason Momoa (Khal Drogo) on the set with the caption:
Did I just stumble upon the truth here?! The cup bearer does not drinketh the Starbucks tea… oh and this ain’t a spoiler just a lost wanderer coming home for a mid filming cuppa….
The picture was supposedly taken a few seasons back but if you look closely at Clarke's hand you can see a cup. So, is she the perpetrator? Well, Game of Thrones actor Liam Cunningham blamed Clarke for the blunder but she has since gone on record to say that she doesn't drink Starbucks. During an interview with the LA Times she said:
I don’t even drink Starbucks. I have no idea whose it was. Liam’s a cheeky one. The funny thing is in Belfast, there is no craft coffee selling Starbucks. Unless we’ve got the Americans in, some hotshot producer, and then we’ll have Starbucks lying around.
So, it's not Emilia Clarke who left her coffee cup on the table. The mystery now remains.
HBO has since responded to the blunder with the comment:
The latte that appeared in the episode was a mistake. Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea.
