Elizabeth Olsen As Scarlett Witch Returns In 'Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness' First Trailer

In the trailer, we see Doctor Stephen Strange going in search of Wanda to try and recruit her help in solving the crisis.

There is just no rest for Doctor Strange. Just after the events of Marvel Cinematic Universe's Spider-Man: No Way Home, we now get, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Marvel Studios released the official teaser for the next film in the MCU and the second installment of the 2016 Doctor Strange movie. Thus standalone sequel starring Benedict Cumberbatch is also a sequel to Avengers: Endgame, WandaVision, and Spider-Man: No Way Home in addition to being a crossover/sequel to the first season of Loki. As such it has a lot of plots riding on its shoulder. But Doctor Stephen Strange has Wanda to share the weight with.

One highlight in the new teaser is Elizabeth Olsen, as Wanda Maximoff or the Scarlett Witch of the MCU, making an appearance. Based on the things that have happened so far, the world is a mess and Doctor Strange is finding a way to fix it. "We tampered with the stability of spacetime," he says in the two-minute trailer. "The Multiverse is a concept about which we know frighteningly little. ... I never meant for any of this to happen." It is then that he goes in search of Wanda to try and recruit her help in solving the crisis.

Referring to the events of WandaVision she says, "I made mistakes and people were hurt." But Doctor Strange interrupts her and lets her know that is not the purpose of his visit. He enquires about the multiverse and no doubt counts on her help to deal with the matter. We had a sneak peek of this at the end of WandaVision where she heard her children calling to her from just that place, as per Comicbook

Speaking to Variety Olsen stated: "I didn't know my part in Doctor Strange until right before we got back to filming during the pandemic. We had two months left, and we'd filmed the majority of our show already. Really, I knew nothing until that moment when they pitched [Doctor Strange 2] to me verbally. So I tried, as much as I could, almost less so to have it affect WandaVision as have WandaVision affect it. I think that's really been where the connection is. It's almost like we're trying to make sure that everything is honoring what we did [on the show]." Fans will be excited to note that Olsen was also seen in the full Scarlett Witch costume in the trailer.

In the sequel, we will also get to meet Strange Supreme, who previously appeared in Disney+'s What If...? series with Cumberbatch playing dual roles in this film. Rachel McAdams, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Benedict Wong also return for the sequel. It will release on May 6, 2022. Watch the trailer here:
