'Beverly Hills Cop 4' has been in the talks since the mid-1990s and back then it was first announced that Eddie Murphy is going to produce the movie. But after the third movie that released way back in 1994, it has been almost 25 years and no news about the project has surfaced until now. Back in 2006, the producer Jerry Bruckheimer said that he has solid plans to make a fourth movie happen, but later on, he sold the project to producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura.
By then, a script has already been drafted and Brett Ratner was going to direct the movie. But, that movie also didn't work and in 2011, Murphy announced that a spin-off tv-series based on the movies is in the works. CBS was going to air the project, but for some unknown reason, they decided to let go of the project.
The original movie was released back in 1984 and was supposed to star Sylvester Stallone. But, Stallone did not like the script and wanted to turn the movie into an action one. Clearly, that didn't happen and Stallone walked out. Back in 1984, Eddie Murphy was relatively new to the acting business. He was given the lead role and this movie is regarded as one of the stepping stones of his career that turned him into an international star.
Murphy played the role of Axel Foley, a police officer residing in Detroit who is working as a lead in a murder investigation. The original movie was followed by Beverly Hills Cop 2 in 1987, and Beverly Hills Cop 3 in 1994.
