Jungle Cruise duo Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt are re-teaming up, this time with superpowers for superhero comedy film Ball and Chain.

The two play a bickering couple who receive superpowers but with a catch. The powers only work if they can learn to put aside their differences and work together as a team.

This collaboration is described as Mr. & Mrs. Smith by way of Superheroes.

Now that is one cute plot and somehow, we can already imagine Johnson and Blunt's characters working on the scenes. The upcoming film is based on the four-part comic book of the same name by Scott Lobdell published in 1999.

Ball-and-Chain by Scott Lobdell.

The comic book tells the story of Edgar and Mallory Bulson who are both ready to call it quits on their relationship. A mysterious meteor gifted the couple superpowers and it's up to the couple to know how they would use it to hopefully solve their relationship issues on top of other problems.

The script will be written by Oscar nominee Emily V. Gordon, co-writer for The Big Sick. It will be produced by Kevin Misher alongside Dany and Hiram Garcia with Seven Bucks, a production company founded by Johnson and his ex-wife, Dany.

Several studios are reportedly bidding on the project but it looks like Netflix is most likely to get it.

As mentioned, Johnson and Blunt previously worked together on another action, adventure comedy film titled Jungle Cruise.

The film was set to release on July 24 this year but is moved to July 30, 2021, following the recent pandemic.

Disney's Jungle Cruise

Jungle Cruise is produced by Walt Disney Pictures and is based on the popular Disneyland's theme park ride where travelers aboard a small boat are taken into a jungle filled with dangerous animals and supernatural elements.

Johnson plays the role of Frank, a riverboat captain who agrees to take the scientist Lily Houghton  (Emily Blunt) and her brother to the jungles of the Amazon to find the Tree of Life which is believed to possess healing powers.

Both Johnson and Blunt are no stranger to films of similar nature.

Johnson is famous for his work on the Jumanji films while Blunt played Mary Poppins in the 2018 Walt Disney Pictures film, Mary Poppins Returns.

Johnson will next be seen on Netflix with his upcoming action- comedy film "Red Notice" with Gal Gadot and Ryan Reynolds.

Blunt will soon reappear for the sequel of A Quiet Place Part II together with her husband John Krasinski, who is also the director of the thriller film.

Here's the official trailer of Johnson and Blunt's Jungle Cruise movie. We can't wait to see the trailer for their next collaboration on Ball and Chain soon too.
