Dune is set to be among the biggest blockbusters of 2020 and we've got all the details about it right here.
Dune is the latest film by legendary director Denis Villeneuve. It is based on the 1965 novel of the same name by Frank Herbert. According to reports, it will cover the first half of the book while a second film will cover the rest. It's said to be sticking very closely to the source material but little is known about how closely. The book has already been adapted by David Lynch in 1984 and was adapted by the Sc-Fi Channel into two miniseries Dune (2000) and Children of Dune (2003). But, this 2020 version could turn out to be the best of all of them. With a star-studded cast and a sky-high budget, we've got big hopes for Dune 2020. Here's everything we know about the Science fiction thriller so far.
Dune is set in the far future and follows Paul Atreides, a young nobleman from the planet Caladan. He is set to inherit the planet of Arrakis, also known as Dune. The planet Arrakis is incredibly dangerous but also the only known place with the most valuable substance in the universe, "the spice". This substance extends human life, allows you to see the future, and provides easy travel across space. Paul's future inheritance of the planet gets him into conflict with the planet’s former rulers, House Harkonnen.
Dune is set to be the biggest star-studded affair of 2020 comparable to that of the Met Gala (LOL). The cast includes Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides Zendaya as Chani, Oscar Isaac as Duke Leto Atreides, Rebecca Ferguson as Lady Jessica Atreides, Josh Brolin as Gurney Halleck, Jason Momoa as Duncan Idaho, Sharon Duncan-Brewster as Liet-Kynes, Charlotte Rampling as the Bene Gesserit reverend mother, Dave Bautista as Glossu Rabban, Javier Bardem as Stilgar, and Stellan Skarsgård as Baron Harkonnen.

Dune is set to hit theaters at the beginning of the Holiday box-office season on December 18, 2020.
The current Coronavirus pandemic has yet to cause Legendary to push the date as it still holds firm. Filming for the epic began on March 18, 2019, at the Origo Film Studios in Budapest, Hungary. Other parts of the film were shot in Jordan and Stadlandet in Norway. Filming was completed in July 2019.
There is currently no more filming to do so we can expect the film's release date to remain the same given theaters reopen before Christmas.
At the moment there is no official trailer for the film.
