‘Doreiku’ Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

Dorei-ku: Boku to 23-nin no Dorei, which is also known as Doreiku, is a psychological anime TV series based on a manga that goes by the same name. The show’s theme is peppered with interesting elements that will keep you on the edge of your seat. The anime series is written by Shinichi Okada and is illustrated by Hiroto Ōishi. The manga series started serialization on December 12, 2012, and continued till October 28, 2016. After one year of the initial publication of the manga series, a light novel of the same name was released, which was again written by Shinichi Okada. Years passed by, and in 2018, anime studios like TNK and Zero-G together announced plans to adapt the series into an anime television series, and season 1 of Doreiku The Animation hit the screen on April 13, 2018. Even though season 1 of the show performed decently, there is a volley of fans who genuinely loved everything about it. And, ever since, they are waiting desperately to hear news of a second season. Here’s everything we found out about the renewal.

When Will ‘Doreiku The Animation’ Season 2 Release?

The first season of Doreiku had 12 episodes that premiered on April 13, 2018, and continued till June 29 of the same year. Even though the show’s popularity was good, there hasn’t been any news regarding the renewal of the show. But, just because it hasn’t been officially announced, it does not mean that there will not be a second season. The fact that season 1 covered only a few chapters of the 45-chapter manga series means that there isn’t any kind of scarcity of source material required to make another season. We can expect season 2 to come sometime in 2025. Whatever the case, we will have to wait for the official announcement to be made.

What Is ‘Doreiku The Animation’ All About?

The show revolves around an unusually interesting storyline and sheds light on two main lead characters- Eiya Arakawa and Yuuga Oota. The show starts with Eiya being revealed to a rather startling truth: Her best friend’s boyfriend, Yuuga, has dumped her for a man. Eiya then finds it difficult to understand and decides to confront Yuuga to find out what’s going on. When she finally meets Yuuga at a cafe, Yuuga finally decides to answer all her questions if she can correctly ascertain the power dynamics of a couple sitting at a nearby table. As Eiya is blessed with high intuition and intellect, she succeeds on her first try leaving Yuuga impressed. Yuuga then invites her to attend a private party where he introduces her to something known as the Slave Control Method, which eventually turns out to be a retainer-like device that can turn people into loyal and obedient slaves.

When two SCM users enter a duel, the device exerts a strong influence on their brains, and the one who loses in the duel turns into the winner’s slave. Yuuga was desperate to try out the device for himself and, therefore, manages to convince Eiya to be his insurance policy in case he loses and becomes enslaved. Even though Eiya was not sure and hesitant at first, she obliges him out of sheer curiosity and the desire to make her life interesting and filled with some action. But unfortunately, things turn out the other way, and a sinister turn takes place where Eiya finds out that a mysterious organization is collecting slaves, and she is also caught in a dangerous game that could cost her life. The second season will most probably show Eiya’s struggle and how she manages to fight back against slavery and come out of it by taking revenge on Yuuga and sending him into the world that he has sent her into.
