Stephen Lang is back as Norman Nordstrom, the blind man we both fear and love in the upcoming sequel of 'Don't Breath.'
'Don't Breath' follows three teenagers' attempts to steal cash from a blind man living alone in an abandoned Detroit neighborhood. What was supposed to be an easy feat turned incredibly awry after they realized that Nordstrom is highly capable of combat and that his house was unexpectedly full of booby traps. The plot for the sequel is already released, and it reveals a significant change in Lang's character.
Here is everything we know so far.
'Don't Breath' 2 is coming to theaters on August 13, 2021, distributed by Sony Pictures.
The sequel was announced to be in the works since 2016, shortly after the international box office success of the first film. The first film released in 2016 was a major success with $157.8 million in revenue against a $9.9 million budget. These numbers can easily justify a sequel.
Unfortunately, the team wasn't able to enter production until four years later. Filming for 'Don't Breath' 2 finally began on August 7, 2020, and managed to wrap on October 8, 2020.
I’m wrapped! A splendidly rugged shoot. Thank you Belgrade. All health and safety protocols observed to the letter. Well done all! #@DontBreathe #@DontBreatheMovie pic.twitter.com/u8CUBIBCVc— Stephen Lang (@IAmStephenLang) October 7, 2020
'Don't Breath' 2 will put the blind man in a new light. The first film has given us mixed feelings about Norman Nordstrom. The sequel will be doing away with the moral conflicts, and it seems that he will be portrayed more as a hero.
Here is the official logline for 'Don't Breath' 2:
"The Blind Man has been hiding out for several years in an isolated cabin and has taken in and raised a young girl orphaned from a devastating house fire. Their quiet life together is shattered when a group of criminals kidnaps the girl, forcing the Blind Man to leave his safe haven to save her."
The first movie has explored Nordstrom's deepest desire to become a father. After losing his daughter in a car accident, he received a cash settlement of $300,000. However, we knew that the money is nothing compared to the precious life of his daughter. The cash eventually attracted three Detroit delinquents (Rocky, Alex, and Money). They decided to get into Nordstrom's house to steal the cash. They soon realized this was a grave mistake after Nordstrom takes them down one by one. We can't help but root for him--a lonely blind Gulf War veteran attacked by perfectly able teens who prefer to steal instead of doing honest work.
However, we soon found out that Nordstrom is hiding a deep secret in his basement. He has held Cindy Roberts kidnapped and inseminated her with his sperm so she could give back what she took from him- the life of his daughter, who Cindy accidentally killed in a car accident.
Nordstrom says that Cindy was pregnant with a "replacement" for his daughter, and when she died in the scuffle, Nordstrom tried to put Alex in Cindy's place. He promised to let her go after she gives her a daughter. Nordstrom has indeed done horrible acts in the first film, but it's easy for viewers to sympathize with the old man's tragic loss. The sequel's story will be a big attempt to humanize his character more.
The official trailer for the sequel has finally dropped and fans are already cheering for Nordstrom to take down the kidnappers. Fueled by the overpowering need to rescue his adoptive daughter, the blind man is even more fearsome and lovable than ever.
There is only a very limited cast confirmed for now. Stephen Lang is confirmed to return for the sequel and reprise his role as Norman Nordstrom / "The Blind Man."
In preparation for reprising his role, Stephen Lang worked with The Northeastern Association for the Blind in Albany, New York, to accurately depict the mannerisms of a blind person.
We've been waiting patiently for this and now it's here! Sony Pictures finally released the gripping official trailer for 'Don't Breath' 2. As promised, we will update this space immediately once the trailer is out. See the full trailer below.
