Following the shenanigans of a man who turns into a werewolf at night, the film is set to appear just in time for the Halloween season.
In a new presentation by Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige revealed a surprise project titled Werewolf by Night amongst other things that give fans the idea that the Marvel train is not stopping. At the D23 Expo, they revealed first looks for Secret Invasion, The Marvels, Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantamania and many others. Additionally, just after D23, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman took to their respective social media handles to announce the release date and their involvements in the third installment of Deadpool. (Deadpool 3 is coming to film screens in 2024)
But bringing our focus back to the highly anticipated TV film of the MCU, Werewolf by Night shows a lot of potential and since it is coming to our television screens very soon, here is everything we know about it.
What is the plot of Werewolf by Night?
Thankfully, Marvel released the trailer along with the announcement saving fans all the speculation but still leaving enough to be teased about as we watch the film. Well, comic book origins place him in the normal turning-into-a-werewolf category involving some bites from Vlad Dracula's werewolves and some deep unforeseen magic from the Darkhold (a book we saw cause destruction in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness).
Werewolf by Night also has some problems with control and has no problem with killing. A trait he shares with Moon Knight (Oscar Isaac), several comics exploring their dynamic. Additionally, it might be possible to see the two becoming rivals and opposition entities or the film could even introduce our audio-only appearance of Mahershala Ali as Blade in the film. Vampire hunters including Elsa Bloodstone will definitely make an appearance in the film perhaps exploring the dynamic with her father Ulysses Bloodstone and their family history as the film goes on.
What is the cast of Werewolf by Night?
Gael García Bernal (Werewolf by Night/Jack Russell) and Laura Donnelly (Elsa Bloodstone) will be leading the film in the portrayals of the iconic characters while Michael Giacchino will be coming on board the film as a director (this will be his debut). He has previously composed iconic soundtracks for Up (2009) and the Spider-Man: Homecoming trilogy.
In the trailer, we also see Verusa who will be played by Harriet Sansom Harris in this edition of the comic book adaptation coming out soon.
When is Werewolf by Night releasing?
Werewolf by Night will be directly released on Disney+ on October 7, 2022. It is expected to be an hour in length and will come just in time for the Halloween season. This is somewhat of a prequel to the other holiday special titled Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special set to release in December 2022.
