Disney CEO Bob Iger isn't happy with Kevin Feige's choice to back Brie Larson as Captain Marvel and doesn't see much of a future for her in the MCU.
Captain Marvel smashed its opening weekend with a stellar $455 million worldwide tally. It did much better than expected and one might believe that Disney would use this as fuel to keep making Captain Marvel films. However, there is a rumor going around that Disney CEO Bob Iger is unhappy with Kevin Fiege's choice to go with Brie Larson as Captain Marvel and that "there is now an uncertainty about Captain Marvel’s future in the MCU.”
This rumor was started by a YouTuber named Film Gob who claims to have heard it from a source close to Disney. There are also rumors that other MCU members don't believe that she is the right person for the job. One such MCU member is Elizabeth Olsen who is rumored to be especially upset that her standalone Scarlet Witch film is being sidelined to facilitate this new female hero who is said to be Marvel's strongest.
Now, these are just rumors and should be taken with a grain of salt. But the rumor has been getting a lot of traction and now we really don't know what to believe. If the rumors are true then we may not be seeing much more of Brie Larson as Captain Marvel.
In my opinion, Brie Larson didn't do the best job as Captain Marvel and the movie was below par. But let's also also consider that the first Captain America film wasn't very good either. Chris Evans only cemented himself in the MCU because the Avengers film. The Captain America movies only got good from Winter Soldier. So let's give Brie Larson another chance. She may just surprise us in Avengers: Endgame.
