Did 'The Simpsons' Predict Kamala Harris' Vice-Presidential Win?

The prophetic episode aired more than 2 decades ago.

The Simpsons- Kamala Harris

From faulty voting machines, Trump's Presidential election, and even lady Gaga's iconic Super Bowl LI's halftime show performance, 'The Simpsons' has been gaining notoriety for predicting several historic moments in the past.

Now, 'The Simpsons' is making rounds on social media again, with another prophetic episode, this time, about Kamala Harris becoming Vice President.

On January 20, Kamala Harris got sworn in alongside the new President of The United States Joe Biden, after Donald Trump's departure.

Watch the historic moment below:

What caught people's attention was the dress and the necklace Kamala was wearing, which is very similar to what Lisa Simpson wore in an episode titled 'Bart To The Future' aired in 2000.

Kamala wore a purple top, layered with a purple jacket, a pearl necklace, and a pair of earrings too, just like Lisa did in the episode.

That particular episode shows Lisa as the first female President of the United States, after the reign of (you will not believe it) Donald Trump!

Whew! We know you got goosebumps while reading that too.

While Kamala was not elected as POTUS, she is the first woman to take on the vice-presidential role. Her term also begins after Trump leaves office, so the resemblance is still uncanny.

A lot of people quickly noticed the resemblance and took to social media to express their awe and amusement. Some even went as far as asking the newly elected VP if she took inspiration from the show.

One person tweeted:

"@KamalaHarris hey, congrats! BTW, did you think of Lisa Simpson today? Or is this just coincidence?#KamalaHarris #lisasimpson #simpsonspredictions"

While others are convinced someone behind the show owns a time machine:

"Someone in the #simpsons has a fucking time machine I swear. @KamalaHarris"

Well, either that or the show have brilliant minds who can foretell the future, not by some psychic or supernatural powers, but by thoroughly analyzing what is next, based on the clues left by the past and present events.

When asked how they predicted Donald Trump's presidency two decades ago, writer Dan Greaney told The Hollywood Reporter:
"It was a warning to America. And that just seemed like the logical last stop before hitting bottom. It was pitched because it was consistent with the vision of America going insane."

It would be lovely to hear Kamala Harris' comment about this, however, the newly elected vice-president might not have a lot of time to answer such 'trivial' matters (sigh).

Is there a particular Simpsons prophecy you can not forget? What do you think of the show's impressive prophetic record?
