In the third episode of Dexter: Resurrection, the main character sets a trap for a serial murderer who has been killing rideshare drivers in New York City. In the last episode, Dex got a UCar registration to learn more about the mysterious killer. It turned out that the perpetrator was an IT person named Ronald “Red” Schmidt who worked for a cybersecurity company. Dex wanted to know more about his target before he made the move, so he started shadowing him outside of his office building. He saved the life of a driver who was going to be Red’s next target, but Dex knew that Red wouldn’t be able to control his urges for long, so he needed to move against him quickly. So, how did Dex do it? Let’s find out.
Warning: Spoilers
Dex Gets Red’s Address
Dex’s landlord and lone friend in New York City, Blessing Kamara, had invited him to dinner. During the meal, Blessing’s wife Constance abruptly brought up Dex’s old life in Miami, which shocked him. Constance couldn’t have known about Dexter’s past, so he was interested about how she knew he used to reside in Miami. She told Dex about the website SafeHaven Verify at this point. It charged $75 for background checks. Dex paid $75 to find out where Red was, and the next day, as he left for work, he broke into Red’s residence, the same one that Charley had gone to in episode 1. We didn’t notice much new at Red’s flat, although Dex did like the location of Red’s place. There were no cameras in the building, no loud neighbors, and the walls of the room were thick. It was the perfect spot for his “killing room.” He had rented the basement from Blessing, but it didn’t seem like a good place to cut up people, did it? Yes, Dex was going to utilize Red’s home to cut up his victims. Ironically, his first victim in New York City was Ronald Schmidt, the former owner of the kill chamber.
Dex Kills Red
Dex called Bridge Data Network and requested for Red to come see him, acting like he was a customer who really needed some IT support. He was basically arranging up a blind date with Red, but Red didn’t know it was going to be his last day on Earth. Dex, under the name Patrick Bateman (which I’m sure you know), ordered his most dangerous weapon, a box of etorphine vials, to keep his target from moving. He had made an injection for Red, and when Red got into his taxi and tried to attack him, Dex gave him the opioid to stop him. During this time, Dex had also been wearing an aluminum component under a high-neck sweater to keep Red’s garrote from hurting his neck.
Finally, Dex took Red to the killing room, covered him in plastic, and then woke him up. Dex started the talk by reminding Red that his actions had broken apart families and made kids orphaned. Red stated why he was going after the rideshare drivers in his defense. His dad had saved up all his money to buy a taxi medallion, but then these UrCar drivers came along and ruined their businesses. Red’s father lost something he could never get back, so he plunged into the East River. And to make matters worse, the same dredgers that went looking for for him in the water cut off his head. Red blamed the rideshare drivers for his father’s death his whole life and then started killing them to get back at them. Dex wasn’t interested in these arguments because he had heard hundreds of stories like his over the years and knew it was only a matter of decision. You could choose to be a vigilante like Dex or a serial killer like Red. He made it apparent that he was going to kill him. A scared Red mistook Dex for the guy who had broken into his house and left an invitation with his trophies and a box of money. Red thought it was Dex who had come back to get the money he had left, but it was really Charley. Dex was quite interested in the whole situation, so after killing Red, he opened Red’s rucksack to look for the invitation he had mentioned. It was a letter from Charley’s boss, who had invited all the other serial killers who thought like him to a dinner party. It did make Dex curious, though.
Dex Takes Away Red’s Body
After killing Red, Dex sliced up a body for the first time in a long time and put the fragments in black trash bags. He then took everything to a run-down, remote neighborhood and torched his body in an old incineration building. But as Red’s body burned, Dex instantly remembered the letter’s wording that said a fingerprint was needed to go in. Dex promptly took Red’s arm out of the fire and cut off his thumb so he could use it to crash the dinner party and meet others who shared his interests. Dex is a hunter, and this dinner party seems like nothing less than a hunting ground where he will see the faces of all the potential serial killers prospering in New York City, keeping Dex busy for a long time. So yes, in the next episode, Dex is going to a party.
Harrison Dodges a Bullet in Dexter: Resurrection Episode 3
Claudette Wallace questioned Harrison Morgan, the hotel’s bellboy, because he was the last person to see Ryan Foster alive. Harrison told Wallace that Ryan had requested him to help him take the woman he called his wife to his room the night he was killed. After that, Harrison left. He told the investigator that he left the hotel and proceeded to a pub where he met a girl and spent the night with her. When Wallace asked Harrison for a way to get in touch with his alibi, Harrison said they didn’t exchange numbers, which made Wallace even more suspicious of Harrison and what he was doing. She went over the crime scene and the evidence again to figure out how the perpetrator might have killed Ryan and how he got rid of his body. She thought Harrison was the one who did it, and he was in a position where he couldn’t back down. Harrison sought to rescue the girl’s life since he knew Ryan was going to r^pe her. But Ryan fought Harrison, and in the heat of the moment, Harrison killed him. She called Harrison back in for more questioning. Wallace told him everything that happened on the night Ryan was killed. Harrison sat there without moving or making a face, trying to think of a way to get out of the problem. Wallace finally told him that she and her partner knew Harrison didn’t want to kill Ryan. If he worked with the police, they would treat the case as a justifiable homicide instead of first-degree murder. But Harrison didn’t want to go to jail, at least not for killing Ryan. He instantly told the cops that he had lied about his date. He didn’t really depart the hotel, which is why none of the security cameras caught him leaving the building. He informed them he didn’t have a place to live, so he used to sleep in one of the empty rooms at night. And this time, he had a legitimate alibi to back up his story.
The episode implied that Elsa Rivera, one of Harrison’s coworkers at the Empire Hotel, might have emotions for him. Dex figured that out when he observed them sitting in a restaurant from a distance. Harrison would take care of Elsa’s daughter every night while she was at work, and it looked like he had a soft place for Elsa as well. He didn’t want to use Elsa as an excuse, but he didn’t have any other choice. She was the only way out for him. Finally, the police talked to Elsa and corroborated his alibi. She said he could sleep in the unoccupied rooms because he was homeless. Is Dex out of trouble now? I don’t think so. Wallace won’t give up until she finds the person who did it. I thought Dex would frame Red for Ryan’s death, but that doesn’t seem plausible. In short, Wallace’s search for the killer is going to take longer than I thought.
Angel Batista Is Coming To NYC
In the previous episode, Batista had asked Teddy, the new sheriff, to put Dex’s truck under surveillance so he could find out where Dex was headed. In episode 3, Teddy told Batista that they had found Dex’s truck and that he was in New York City. Batista filled out his retirement form at the MPD as soon as he heard the words. Batista’s pals didn’t know why he was going so suddenly, but he told them they would find out soon enough. It’s clear that he’s going to New York City to follow Dex and get proof against him. He already thinks he might be a serial killer and can’t shake those suspicions, so Batista wants closure more than anybody else. In the next episodes, we can expect the two to fight, and if that happens, Dex will have no choice but to kill Batista.
