For all the Pokemon fans who are eagerly waiting for 'Detective Pikachu' to release, here's something to look forward to. As the film gets close to its release date, there has been a lot of planning being done for its possible future.

According to Heroic Hollywood, Legendary Entertainment producer Ali Mendes recently talked about the possibility of a Pokemon Cinematic Universe.

In an on-set interview with IGN,  Mendes talked about having a lot of opportunities to explore in the Pokemon Universe after the release of its first film.

“[Pokemon is] such a rich universe. There are so many ways you can go inside of it. We’re trying to get the first movie right, and then once we’ve done that, we’ll see where we go from there, but absolutely. There are a lot of opportunities, " he said.

The producer also explained how their Pokemon Universe has more than 800 types of Pokemon and the makers want to use them all in the future. “Even the Pokemon themselves, there are eight hundred of them. We’re going to have a lot of them in [Pokemon: Detective Pikachu], but we want to play with all of them at some point, " he added.

The movie trailer got very mixed reactions after it came out. That character of Pikachu is being voiced by Ryan Reynolds and the Pikachu in the film appears to be a live version of the popular animated series 'Pokemon'. The series has had a huge fan following and the die-hard fans were at first really disappointed by how Pikachu appeared to be.

As the makers released more trailers of the film, fans started looking forward to it even more as it had a lot of funfilled humor scenes in it that looks like good entertainment to those who are looking to watch something light.

The latest trailer of the film reveals the basic story of the film. The synopsis of the film reads, "The story begins when ace private eye Harry Goodman goes mysteriously missing, prompting his 21-year-old son Tim to find out what happened. Aiding in the investigation is Harry’s former Pokémon partner, Detective Pikachu: a hilariously wise-cracking, adorable super-sleuth who is a puzzlement even to himself. "

"Finding that they are uniquely equipped to communicate with one another, Tim and Pikachu join forces on a thrilling adventure to unravel the tangled mystery. Chasing clues together through the neon-lit streets of Ryme City—a sprawling, modern metropolis where humans and Pokémon live side by side in a hyper-realistic live-action world—they encounter a diverse cast of Pokémon characters and uncover a shocking plot that could destroy this peaceful co-existence and threaten the whole Pokémon universe," it concludes.

The release of the first trailer of the film sparked questions from the fans who were totally confused because of the most popular animated series from where the film is adapted had Ash Ketchum as the main character.

The animated series followed his adventures in the Pokemon universe as he battles various trainers and captured different types of Pokemon. The fans were confused and wanted to know why he was not part of the film and why Pikachu is being shown as a detective.

According to Nintendoenthusiast, in an early interview, Detective Pikachu director Rob Letterman spoke with IGN explaining why longtime series protagonist Ash Ketchum didn’t make the cut.

"The Pokemon Company, they’ve already made many, many movies of Ash, and they came to Legendary with this idea of using a new character. So when I came on board, I was pitched this character of Detective Pikachu, and I fell in love with the story behind it,” Letterman said.

“It’s a really great story. It was something with a lot of heart, and it was just very unique. And because there’s already been so much work done with Ash, for the first live-action movie I thought it was a really good idea to try something new with a new character, but bake it into the universe of Pokemon. So it still follows all the rules, and we get to see a lot of our favorite things," he added.
