Jen must face the consequences of her actions as the series wraps up in season 3.
Dead to Me is officially returning after a cliffhanging season 2 episode finale.
The dark comedy-drama series created by Liz Feldman premiered on Netflix on May 3, 2019, and became so popular and well-received that the streaming giant decided to renew the show for season 2 just a month after season 1's release.
Season 2 dropped on Netflix on May 8, 2020, and fans will be delighted to know that a third season is on the way.
Here's everything we know so far.
Dead to Me is returning for season 3. Unfortunately, it is going to be the last season for the series.
The renewal announcement came in July 2020 and left fans in mixed emotions.
The series is among the most-watched shows on Netflix, having been viewed by over 30 million subscribers worldwide in its first month.
Dead to Me captured the audience with its perfect blend of hilarious comedy and heart-wrenching drama, and it's hard to fathom that the tale of friendship between Jen (Applegate) and Judy (Cardellini) is finally coming to an end.
“I will miss these ladies. But we felt this was the best way to tie up the story of these women. Thank you to all the fans. We will be getting back to work when it is safe to do so," Christina Applegate tweeted following the announcement.

Netflix is yet to announce a release date for Dead to Me Season 3.
Filming for season 3 is set to begin on January 2021 and will reportedly last until April 6th, 2021, as per Production Weekly.
However, the schedule is still subject to change due to the pandemic.
The first two seasons were released in May 2019 and 2020, respectively. As much as we would like to see season 3 around the same time next year, we should be ready for possible delays brought by the pandemic.
We will keep you posted with the updates, so make sure to keep a tab on this page.
Dead to Me follows the story of two women who found friendship during a dark point in their lives.
Jen, a recently widowed real estate agent, met Judy in a grief support group. Jen is grieving the death of her husband, who was killed by a hit-and-run driver. Unknown to Jen, Judy was the hit-and-run driver she has been looking for.
However, the friendship between the two continued to flourish despite the lies, and in season 2, the bond between Jen and Judy even grew deeper.
There are a few season 2 cliffhangers that need some answers in season 3.
First, what will happen after the car crash?
Towards the end of season 2, Ben accidentally hit the car that Jen and Judy were in.
He was presumably on his way to identify the body of his dead brother Steve, but the struggling alcoholic had been drinking whiskey and ran through a stop sign.
Jen and Judy were conscious, but it is yet unknown how many injuries the two suffered from the incident. If they will know that Ben is behind the wheel, we can expect an awkward confrontation between the three.
Next, what will Charlie do to the letter?
While searching in Judy's room for some weed, Charlie discovers the letter that his mother, Jen, had written for Judy.
It wasn't revealed if Charlie read the letter, but if he did, he would find out that Judy’s involved with his father’s hit-and-run death, and his mother's guilty of killing Steve.
The letter could be Charlie's ticket to freedom, as he is still one of the suspects behind Steve's disappearance.
The letter brings so much power in Charlie's hands, which brings us to the next question:
Will Jen get caught?
Jen is already prepared to face the consequences of Steve’s murder and even confessed to Detective Perez. Charlie has the letter, and the body of Steve has been found.
Will Jen go to prison in season 3? If so, what will happen to her budding romance with Ben? Will he forgive her for killing his twin brother?
The main cast members are expected to reprise their roles for the season finale.
They are Christina Applegate as Jen Harding, Linda Cardellini as Judy Hale, James Marsden, Sam McCarthy as Charlie Harding, Luke Roessler as Henry Harding, James Marsden as Steve/Ben Wood, Max Jenkins as Christopher Doyle, Diana Maria Riva as Detective Ana Perez, and Brandon Scott as Nick Prager.
Filming for season 3 is set to begin in January next year, so there is still no season 3 official trailer as of this writing. We will continue to update this page once we get new information regarding the season finale. In the meantime, we will leave you with the season 2 trailer.
