Dash and Lily's holliday love affair has just begun.
Netflix seems to have already mastered the perfect formula for a successful young adult romantic comedy series, so it is not surprising to see the same audience reception when Dash and Lily premiered on the streaming platform this month.
Set during the holiday season in New York, the romantic comedy series features two teenagers who find their way to each other's arms using the clues on a red notebook at the Strand bookstore.
The show has just recently launched on Netflix, but its adorable ending had the audience asking for more.
Let us find out what the future holds for Dash and Lily's romance.
As of this writing, Netflix is yet to renew 'Dash and Lily' for season 2. The show is still on its first week on the platform, so it's still early to tell.
As you may already know, Netflix often takes at least a month before deciding whether to renew a show or not, taking a closer look at the show's performance on its first 30 days on the platform.
However, we have all the reasons to believe that the romantic comedy will come back for more.
First of all, the creators are already on board, drafting possible ways to continue Dash and Lily's love story.
In an interview with Decider, showrunner Joe Tracz revealed that season 2 is never far from her mind, adding she loves these characters.
The show is also well received both by critics and viewers alike. Dash and Lily received an astounding 100% critic rating and 86% audience score from Rotten Tomatoes.
But of course, we know that viewership is king for the streaming platform. While Netflix is keen on hiding viewership data from the public, the show's constant social media buzz is enough to clue the show's popularity.
'Dash and Lily' is yet to get renewed for season 2, and it's still unknown when new episodes are likely to drop on Netflix.
The show premiered on Netflix on November 10, 2020. Without the pandemic, season 2 would likely release in November next year. However, with the show set in New York, delays are likely to happen considering how much the pandemic has affected the US, especially the film and television industry.
We will keep you posted with the latest updates.
We are still waiting for official season 2 announcements, including the full cast details. Nevertheless, we're likely to see the same cast members for season 2 based on how season 1 ended.
The show's main cast includes Austin Abrams as Dash, Midori Francis as Lily, Dante Brown as Boomer, and Troy Iwata as Langston.
Agneeta Thacker (Priya), James Saito (Arthur), Keana Marie (Sofia), and Jodi Long (Mrs. Basil E) are also likely to reprise their respective roles.
We're still unsure if the Jonas Brothers will return with another concert cameo.
Dash and Lily is based on a novel series written by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, the same minds behind Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist.
The second book in the series titled ' The Twelve Days of Dash and Lily' is set a year after the events of the first novel. It contains a lot of moving details, including the return of Lily's grandpa, played by James Saito, and the continuation of Dash and Lily's relationship.
However, another year means more challenges for the couple. The two will struggle to keep the spark alive.
The book's official synopsis reads: "Dash and Lily have been dating for nearly a year, but when Lily’s beloved grandfather falls ill, the repercussions take their toll on everyone. Even though they are still together, somehow the magic has gone out of their relationship, and it’s clear that Lily has fallen out of love with life."
Will they make it? The third book in the novel series tells us they will. Set in London, the third book in the Dash and Lily series will see the couple resolving another holiday romance problem.
While waiting for season 2 confirmation, we'll leave you with season 1's official trailer. Watch full episodes of 'Dash and Lily' on Netflix.
