‘Dash and Lily’ Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

Netflix seems to have already mastered the perfect formula for a successful young adult romantic comedy series, so it is not surprising to see the same audience reception when ‘Dash and Lily’ premiered on the streaming platform.

Set during the holiday season in New York, the romantic comedy series features two teenagers who find their way to each other’s arms using the clues on a red notebook at the Strand bookstore.

The show’s adorable ending had the audience asking for more almost immediately after it launched.

Let us find out what the future holds for Dash and Lily’s romance.

Has ‘Dash and Lily’ Been Renewed For Season 2?

Unfortunately, ‘Dash and Lily’ is among the list of shows that Netflix canceled in 2021.

The series was released in November 2020, just before the holiday season.

At first, fans were very hopeful that the show will return for the holidays the next year.

Even the creators are already on board, drafting possible ways to continue Dash and Lily’s love story.

In an interview with Decider, showrunner Joe Tracz revealed that season 2 is never far from her mind, adding she loves these characters.

The show is also well received both by critics and viewers alike. Dash and Lily received an astounding 100% critic rating and 86% audience score from Rotten Tomatoes.

All the signs lead us to believe that a second season is inevitable. However, months passed and there is still no news.

Finally, in October 2021, Deadline broke the silence with a piece of rather heartbreaking news. Netflix cancels ‘Dash and Lily’ after just one season.

Netflix did not reveal the reason behind the cancelation.

When Is ‘Dash and Lily’ Season 2 Coming On Netflix?

‘Dash and Lily’ is canceled after just one season, so season 2 is never coming to Netflix anymore.

The first season of the show premiered on Netflix on November 10, 2020.

Who Will Be In The Cast Of ‘Dash and Lily’ Season 2?

We will no longer see the return of the main cast from ‘Dash and Lily,’ now that the show got canceled.

The show’s main cast includes Austin Abrams as Dash, Midori Francis as Lily, Dante Brown as Boomer, and Troy Iwata as Langston.

Joining them are Agneeta Thacker (Priya), James Saito (Arthur), Keana Marie (Sofia), and Jodi Long (Mrs. Basil E).

The Jonas Brothers also appeared in the show through a concert cameo.

The Plot: What Could’ve Happened In ‘Dash and Lily’ Season 2?

‘Dash and Lily’ is based on a novel series written by Rachel Cohn and David Levithan, the same minds behind Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist.

If the show got renewed, we expect it to follow the story from the second entry of the novel series.

The second book in the series titled ‘The Twelve Days of Dash and Lily’ is set a year after the events of the first novel. It contains a lot of moving details, including the return of Lily’s grandpa, played by James Saito, and the continuation of Dash and Lily’s relationship.

However, another year means more challenges for the couple. The two will struggle to keep the spark alive.

The book’s official synopsis reads: “Dash and Lily have been dating for nearly a year, but when Lily’s beloved grandfather falls ill, the repercussions take their toll on everyone. Even though they are still together, somehow the magic has gone out of their relationship, and it’s clear that Lily has fallen out of love with life.”

Will they make it? The third book in the novel series tells us they will. Set in London, the third book in the ‘Dash and Lily’ series will see the couple resolving another holiday romance problem.
