‘Darker Than Black’ Season 3: Everything We Know So Far

‘Darker Than Black’ was a popular anime in the early 2000s. Directed by Tensai Okamura and animated by Studio Bones, the anime series currently has two seasons and 4 OVAs. It has been a while since the second season concluded, but some fans are still wondering if it will return for another round in the future. Let us discuss the possibility of ‘Darker Than Black’ Season 3.

Will Ther Be ‘Darker Than Black’ Season 3?

As of this writing, there is still no confirmation if ‘Darker Than Black’ will return for season 3. The anime series premiered 25 episodes in Japan in April 2007, followed by a sequel, ‘Darker than Black: Gemini of the Meteor,’ which aired twelve episodes from October to December 2009. The anime has amassed plenty of fans. The first season currently holds an 8.06/ 10 rating on MyAnimeList. Its second season has a 7.92/ 10 rating. Most of these dedicated fans are still waiting for another season. Unfortunately, it seems unlikely now to happen. It has been over a decade since the second season of the anime concluded. There are still no plans for the season. What the anime needs, for now, is a reboot. The franchise is already too old. If the creators want to produce a new season, they need to do a lot of work to be at par with the current anime titles. Aside from that, they would need a new studio, cast, and staff since Tensai Okamura, the director, and creator of the series has already left Studio Bones. Unless a dedicated team will be willing to go through that hassle, then season 3 is most likely never going to happen anymore.

When Will ‘Darker Than Black’ Season 3 Release?

‘Darker Than Black’ Season 3 was never renewed, so there is no release date available. The show was never formally canceled, either. Fans are just left hanging for over a decade now. If there will be development in the future, we will make sure to update this space to reflect that information.
