The first film in the franchise, 'Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone', recently celebrated its 20th anniversary.
It's hard to imagine how much time has flown by for us Harry Potter fans. Can you believe that the first film in the franchise, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, came out 20 years ago? Now, the cast is coming together for a reunion special from HBO Max: Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return to Hogwarts. The special will bring back several stars from across all eight Harry Potter films for the first time in several years as they reflect on their time in the franchise and how much Harry Potter has changed their lives. This includes leading trio Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint. The special will arrive on HBO Max on New Year's Day... until then have a look at the official trailer below:
Also in the special are Helena Bonham Carter, Ralph Fiennes, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Imelda Staunton, Tom Felton, James Phelps, Oliver Phelps, Mark Williams, Bonnie Wright, Alfred Enoch, Evanna Lynch, and Ian Hart. It surely is going to get HP fans teary-eyed watching the people who played their favorite characters come together once again. In the new trailer, we get to see Emma Watson hug onscreen enemy Tom Felton, Radcliffe and Gary Oldman engage in conversation as well as the three lead actors have a sit-down and recall their most memorable moments in the franchise. Watson at one point wipes back tears as Grint says, "It's a strong bond we all have. We're family. We'll always be a part of each other's lives." What's also pretty cool is that the actual Hogwarts setting, the Great Hall, serves as the backdrop for the stars' reunion. The smaller conversations are held in classrooms and common rooms. It sure is going to get pretty emotional!
The teaser first gave us a peek at someone holding up a copy of The Daily Prophet newspaper with the front-page headline, "Hogwarts Welcomes Back Alumni." Later we saw Robbie Coltrane, who played Hagrid, and Matthew Lewis, who played Neville Longbottom, holding invitations stamped just like all Hogwarts-related mail. Then, there was Mark Williams (Arthur Weasley), who hops on the Hogwarts Express train before others are shown heading towards the 9¾ stop at Kings Cross Station. What can fans expect from the reunion special? The streamer said in a press release: The retrospective special will tell an enchanting making-of story through all-new in-depth interviews and cast conversations, inviting fans on a magical first-person journey through one of the most beloved film franchises of all time.
