DC's 'Stargirl' Season 3 Wraps Filming

DC's 'Stargirl' Season 3 Wraps Filming

Season 3 is set to premiere on The CW later in 2022.

Brec Bassinger will return as the titular character for Stargirl Season 3. Bassinger confirmed that filming on the third season of The CW series has officially concluded. The 22-year-old wrote on Instagram: And that’s a wrap on filming Stargirl season 3. To say these past six months have been the biggest blessing would be such an understatement… I’ve made some of the best friends, had some of the funnest nights, and shot a really freaking awesome season. I can not WAIT for y’all to see it ⭐️💫 Xo.

DC's Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore, played by Brec Bassinger, and her stepfather Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson) as she leads the next generation of an unlikely group of young heroes to take on the legacy of DC's very first superhero team, the Justice Society of America. The series stars Brec Bassinger as Stargirl, as well as Anjelika Washington as Dr. Mid-Nite, Luke Wilson as Pat Dugan, Amy Smart as Barbara Whitmore, Yvette Monreal as Wildcat, Cameron Gellman as Hourman, Meg DeLacy as Shiv, Hunter Sansone as Cameron Mahkent, Jonathan Cake as The Shade, and Joel McHale as Starman.

According to The List, Season 3 is set to premiere on The CW later in 2022. It even has a title that seems appropriate for what was shown in the last season finale: Frenemies. "That's, like, the subtitle of the season, and that's sort of the feeling of this new season," said Amy Smart who plays Stargirl's mother, Barbara Whitmore. "[The new season] feels a little bit like a whodunit, like 'Clue,'" she revealed. "I don't know much I'm allowed to tease," she admitted. "It's a really amazing, big finale. I'm excited for this new season to air."

As for Stargirl herself, Bassinger told ComicBook.com in a 2020 interview about her character, "Courtney specifically, she doesn't overthink anything. She goes for things. And just being on set in general with Stargirl, I really tried to stay present and just bask in the moment. Because it was so wonderful and beautiful. I've tried to kind of take that away into other parts of my life as well. The answer changes every time I get asked it, but I'm so excited about so many different things." Bassinger added, "It just depends on what comes to my brain at that point. But towards the end of the season, I was getting really confident with my staff and I just really hope I can keep that going in season two and just get more confident with it and kick butt."

You can catch the first two seasons of DC's Stargirl, now streaming on HBO Max. Season 3 is expected to premiere on The CW by the end of the year.
