'Cursed' Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

Netflix's fantasy series ended in a couple of cliffhangers that will sadly never get answered.

Cursed Season 2

The fantasy series starring 13 Reasons Why actress Katherine Langford featured lavish and breathtaking scenes worthy of binge-watching. It was among the most talked-about shows of 2020. Right after the show landed on the streaming platform, fans were already asking if the show's getting renewed for season 2. Sadly, they won't get the answers they want.

Has 'Cursed' Been Renewed For Season 2?

Unfortunately, a bigger curse has ironically descended upon the series. 'Cursed' is among the unfortunate shows that were officially canceled by Netflix. Netflix kept quiet regarding the show's renewal status for quite a while. Then, in July 2021, Netflix broke the silence and confirmed that the show is no longer returning for season 2. Netflix did not release any explanation regarding the cancelation. The streamer is not fond of explaining the reason behind their big decisions. Netflix also does not release the viewership status of their shows, with the exception of those extremely popular titles. However, it's safe to speculate that the show did not live up to the streamer's expectations. It also is possible that Netflix decided to let go of the show because it is expensive to produce, and the pandemic even added more complications.

Is There A Way For 'Cursed' To Return?

There are currently two potential ways for the TV show 'Cursed' to return after being canceled. The first option is for Netflix to reconsider its decision and give the show a second chance. The second option is for a different streaming service or studio to pick up the show. Unfortunately, as of now, there has been no news indicating that any other studios or streaming companies are interested in picking up 'Cursed'..

What Could've Been The Plot Of 'Cursed' Season 2?

Cursed is the reimagining of King Arthur's legend told in the eyes of Nimue. It is based on the illustrated novel of the same name by Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler. Netflix has shifted the focus from King Arthur to the brave young girl Nimue, the future Lady of the Lake. In the series, Arthur is just a supporting character and a love interest to Nimue.

The first season ended with a couple of cliffhangers, one of them literally. Nimue was last seen tumbling down into a mountain river after red Paladin assassin Sister Iris shot her with arrows.  Speaking to Elle on July 21, 2020, Nimue actress Katherine Langford said: “I feel like [season 1] is really just the tip of the iceberg.”

Langford added: “There’s a lot of talk about the sword this season, and I feel like it would be interesting to see just how deep Nimue’s powers go and what kind of untapped power she has within.”

Unfortunately, it seems like we will never see the extent of Nimue's power anymore. Unless Netflix reverses the cancelation or if the show gets picked up by another streamer/network/studio, then we'll have to live with this cliffhanging ending for the rest of our lives.

Who Are In The Cast Of 'Cursed' Season 2?

The show is canceled after just one season, so we can't expect the cast to return. The season 1 cast was led by '13 Reasons Why' actress Katherine Langford as Nimue and Devon Terrell as her love interest, Arthur. Other cast members include Daniel Sharman as the Weeping Monk, Shalom Brune-Franklin as Morgana, Billy Jenkins as Squirrel, Emily Coates as Sister Iris, Bella Dayne as the Red Spear, Lily Newmark as Pym, Sebastian Armesto as Uther, Clive Francis as the Pope, and Matt Stokoe as Gawain.
