Netflix's fantasy series ended in a couple of cliffhangers. Here's what's next for Nimue, the legendary Lady of the Lake.
Cursed is one of Netflix's most anticipated shows of the year.
The fantasy series starring 13 Reason's Why actress Katherine Langford featured lavish and breathtaking scenes worthy of binge-watching.
Barely a month after the show landed on the streaming platform, fans are already asking if the show's getting renewed for season 2.
Here's everything we know so far.
Has Cursed Been Renewed For Season 2?
Netflix is yet to confirm whether they're renewing Cursed for season 2 or not. The streaming platform often waits 30 days before coming up with a decision. As of this writing, Cursed is still on its third week on Netflix after landing on the streaming site on July 17, 2020.
Needless to say, the fantasy series has more or less a week to prove its worthy of another season.
Assuming the show gets the green light for season 2, we're likely to wait for at least more than a year to see it. Netflix often takes around 18 months to come up with a follow-up season for lavish fantasy shows such as Cursed. We're not even taking into consideration the current Coronavirus pandemic yet, which is likely to cause more delays in this case.
Right now, everything remains in the dark, but we're hoping to get more updates soon.
Cursed is the re-imagining of King Arthur's legend told in the eyes of Nimue. It is based on the illustrated novel of the same name by Frank Miller and Tom Wheeler. Netflix has shifted the focus from King Arthur to the brave young girl Nimue, the future Lady of the Lake. In the series, Arthur is just a supporting character and a love interest to Nimue.
The first season ended in a couple of cliffhangers, one of them literally.
Nimue was last seen tumbling down into a mountain river after red Paladin assassin Sister Iris shot her with arrows.
Although the show ended with the main character in a not so favorable situation, we remain confident that she will be alive should there be season 2.
We are also expecting to see a lot more from Nimue after discovering her power in season 1.
Speaking to Elle on July 21, 2020, Nimue actress Katherine Langford said: “I feel like [season 1] is really just the tip of the iceberg.”
Langford added: “There’s a lot of talk about the sword this season, and I feel like it would be interesting to see just how deep Nimue’s powers go and what kind of untapped power she has within.”
Although nothing has been confirmed yet, we're expecting the following cast to reprise their roles for season 2.
13 Reason's Why actress Katherine Langford will come back as Nimue together with Devon Terrell, who plays her love interest, Arthur.
Other cast members include Daniel Sharman as the Weeping Monk, Shalom Brune-Franklin as Morgana, Billy Jenkins as Squirrel, Emily Coates as Sister Iris, Bella Dayne as the Red Spear, Lily Newmark as Pym, Sebastian Armesto as Uther and Clive Francis as the Pope.
Gawain (Matt Stokoe) died in season one. However, there's a chance that his character will come back after Nimue used her magical powers to wrap him in protective plants.
Trailers often drop a month before Netflix releases a show. With the renewal for Cursed still pending, it's impossible to give you an expected date. Cursed season one is now available for streaming on Netflix. If you haven't watched the series yet, we'll leave you with season one's trailer for a quick look.
