'Crash Landing on You' is currently the third highest-rated South Korean TV drama in cable television history. The romantic Kdrama series landed with an incredible impact on Netflix in December 2019 and remained one of the most talked-about Korean shows up to this date. 'Crash Landing on You' follows the story of a South Korean heiress who accidentally lands in North Korea after a paragliding incident. Written by Park Ji-eun and directed by Lee Jeong-hyo, the series is admired for its aesthetics, story, and heartfelt romance. Let's find out what the future holds for this highly successful show.

Will There Be 'Crash Landing on You' season 2?

Renewal Status: Pending/Possibly Canceled

At the moment, there is no news of a second season for 'Crash Landing on You.' Despite its popularity, it is possible that the Kdrama series may not return. The first season ended on a conclusive note with all loose ends tied up. It appears that the creators had no intention of extending the series beyond season one based on the way it ended. The characters overcame challenges and achieved their goals, resulting in a well-rounded conclusion. Additionally, Kdrama shows typically have a defined storyline with a clear beginning, middle, and end, making it rare for them to have multiple seasons. However, if the series is renewed for another season, we will update you accordingly.

What Is The Plot Of Crash Landing on You?

'Crash Landing on You' follows the story of Yoon Se-ri (Son Ye-jin), a South Korean heiress to a large business conglomerate. She also runs her own company, Se-ri's Choice, to earn money independently and get away from the ire of her jealous stepmother.

One day, she goes out paragliding and gets caught in an unexpected tornado. She ends up crash landing in North Korea, where she meets Captain Ri Jeong-hyeok (Hyun Bin).

In Yoon Se-ri's absence, her elder brother took over the family business, and his wife wanted to get Se-ris Choice, too. Upon hearing that Se-ri is still alive, they worked hard to prevent her from returning.

Throughout the series, we see Yoon Se-ri and Captain Ri Jeong-hyeok spend a lot of time as the latter tries to smuggle Yoon Se-ri back to South Korea. While staying in a foreign nation, Yoon Se-ri gets exposed to the hardships and struggles in North Korea. She learns to appreciate the simple things in life.

Their fateful encounter changed both of their lives for the better. Yoon Se-ri returns to South Korea and becomes a much kinder and generous CEO. Captain Ri gets the chance to pursue his musical passion.

At the end of the series, the two reunited in Switzerland. Jeong-hyeok is now discharged from the military and became a professional pianist representing North Korea.

The season one cast includes:

Son Ye-jin as Yoon Se-ri, the South Korean heiress who lands in North Korea after a paragliding incident.

Hyun Bin stars as Ri Jeong-hyeok, the emotionally-reserved Captain of Company Five in the Korean People's Army.

Seo Ji-hye plays Seo Dan, a North Korean department store heiress. She becomes Ri Jeong-hyeok's fiancée through their parents' agreement.

Kim Jung-hyun stars as Gu Seung-jun / Alberto Gul, a South Korean conman who embezzled money from Se-ri's family. He flees to North Korea to hide and eventually falls in love with Dan.
