'Clifford the Big Red Dog' follows Emily and her titular giant red pooch as they embark on an adventure that will teach the world how to love big. Emily Elizabeth is a middle schooler struggling to fit in at home and school. One fateful day, she meets a small red puppy from a magical animal rescuer. The tiny puppy was the runt of the litter, and Emily immediately fell in love with him.
While going to bed that night, Emily wished for Clifford to grow big and strong so no one could hurt them. Then next morning, Emily wakes up to the sight of Clifford, who has now grown enormously. Clifford's ginormous size eventually attracted the attention of a genetics company, which wants to supersize animals. Emily and her clueless Uncle Casey must find a way to save Clifford from the forces of greed. They find themselves running across New York City. In the process, Emily and Casey's lives change for the better.
David Alan Grier lends his voice to Clifford, Emily's fur best friend. Darby Camp stars as Emily Elizabeth Howard, the young girl who has to protect Clifford from the greedy genetics company. She is accompanied by Jack Whitehall, who stars as Emily's clueless Uncle Casey Howard.

Russell Wong stars as Mr. Yu, Owen's dad. John Cleese plays Mr. Bridwell, the magical animal rescuer who gives Clifford to Emily. Creating live-action adaptations of popular animated shows, films, and books is always tricky. There is a huge risk that people will not receive it as positively as the creators hope. Just take a look at 'Mulan' and 'The Lion King' as examples. Unfortunately, 'Clifford the Big Red Dog' seems to be heading towards the same path.
Clifford is among the most famous fur characters ever created. Aside from film adaptations, the giant red dog had several television adaptations, including two animated shows that were released in 2000 and 2019. In these animated adaptations, Clifford gets portrayed as a sweet, gentle dog, despite his enormous size. He is also very smart and can communicate with other animals. When the official trailer of the live-action film is released, people's reactions are mixed. Some are horrified upon seeing Clifford almost swallowing a pug and almost mauling a man in the park. Those who grew up with animated TV shows think that this version of Clifford is terrifying.
