Charlie Cox Will Return As Daredevil, Marvel Boss Kevin Feige Confirms

Cox will play Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Fans of Daredevil were excited to see three seasons of the crime-fighting hero's story on Netflix. Unfortunately, it's been a while since we saw Matt Murdock on-screen, but according to Marvel boss Kevin Feige, Charlie Cox has been confirmed to play Matt Murdock should he return at some point in the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. "If you were to see Daredevil in upcoming things, Charlie Cox, yes, would be the actor playing Daredevil," Feige told CinemaBlend on Sunday as part of the press tour for Spider-Man: No Way Home. "Where we see that how we see that, when we see that, remains to be seen."

Fans have been persistently pushing for the actor to return as the blind lawyer-by-day who fights crime as a masked vigilante by night. Many also questioned if he's in Spider-Man: No Way Home. The actor avoided the question. "My answer is, 'No comment.' I don't know what's going to happen, I genuinely don't know," the Daredevil star shared in the Forbes video, making its rounds online. The 38-year-old has even played coy, saying that "if there was a chance of that happening in the future, I don't want to say something that could potentially jeopardize those chances because the people high up at Marvel, maybe they see this stuff or hear what I say and maybe that influences." Cox shared, "I don't know. I have no idea. I love how passionate the fans are, and I feel very, very, very touched that so many of them have gone online and made their voices heard about the desire for me to come back."

The actor is also pretty nervous about a comeback, wondering whether, even if he does, will it live up to people's expectations? During a recent visit to Sirius XM's The Jessica Shaw Show, Cox explained, "You've got to be careful what you wish for. You come back, and it's not as good, or it doesn't quite work, or it's too much time has passed. It doesn't quite come together in the same way. You don't want to taint what you've already got. If we never come back, we've also got these three great seasons, and our third season was our best-reviewed. So the trajectory was up. I, for one, am tremendously proud and grateful for what we have." He also pointed out, "If there was an opportunity for me to come back as Daredevil, whatever that would look like, I imagine it would be a reimagining of the character and the show. If they choose me to do it, there's going to be some elements that are, of course, the same. Or they might choose someone else and reboot it all over again." Well, at least we now know that Cox himself will be playing the character if he were ever to return!
