'Castlevania' Season 3: Here's Everything We Know So Far

'Castlevania' is the first video game adaptation to be rated as 'Fresh' by Rotten Tomatoes, which is a great thing in itself.

'Castlevania' is hands down the latest obsession for fans who love adult animated web television series inspired by video games. 'Castlevania' is inspired by Konami's video games ‘Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse’ and ‘Castlevania: Curse of Darkness’. Originally, the series was planned to be a film made by producer Kevin Kolde and his company Project 51. The art style is heavily inspired by that of Japanese anime and Ayami Kojima's artwork in ‘Castlevania: Symphony of the Night', a story about a devastated Dracula, who decides to take revenge against humanity for the death of his wife.

The show aired for the first time on July 7, 2017, on Netflix. The show has been developed for the streaming platform by Kevin Kolde, Warren Ellis and Adi Shankar. Warren Ellis is also responsible for writing the script. The series is about a vampire hunter who with the help of others try to defend a country that is ruled and overrun by otherworldly creatures that are controlled by Count Dracula himself. Those who have played the video game would love the series, and the video game was enough to make fans obsess about it.

However, those who had never played the video game before had loved this series for the rich and amazing execution which interweaves different genres like drama, action, horror, dark fantasy and adventure. 'Castlevania' is the first video game adaptation to be rated as 'Fresh' by Rotten Tomatoes which is a great thing for a show. The fame and massive attention the show garnered has forced Netflix to renew it for the second time and fans cannot be happier. Netflix has ordered a 10-episode third season, and here is everything we know about it.

Has The Production Of Third Season Started?

Yes, it has. Richard Armitage who lends his voice to Trevor Belmont, the last surviving member of the monster-hunter family, shared that the third season has been given the green light. Speaking exclusively to DS back in June, he said: "We're about to record a third. The second season hasn't been aired yet, but we're about to do a third." Then, Netflix's official announcement on the third renewal and the news of 10 new episodes came courtesy of Vlad Dracula Țepeș on Twitter.

Who All Are Expected To Return For The Third Season?

We will definitely see Armitage as Trevor Belmont and Graham McTavish as Dracula Vlad Tepes returning. Armitage also mentioned that in season 2, fans will see the son of Dracula and his character getting more collaborative and starting to work together. James Callis who played the role of Vlad's son Adrian Tepes or Alucard might return for the third season to take a greater stance against his father. We might see Alejandra Reynoso, who plays Sypha Belnades, a Neoseeker with powerful magic capabilities, returning for the third installment.

"The son of Dracula [Adrian Tepes, voiced by James Callis] and my character get much more collaborative," Armitage said. "I think that's one of the most exciting things, they start to really work together."

When Will It Premiere?

Season 2 premiered on October 26, 2018, and soon after, season 3 got greenlit by Netflix. Even though the date is not fixed for the release of the third installment, we can expect it to come sometime in October 2019.
