Bosch is Amazon Prime's longest-running one-hour series with an impressive five seasons in. But what about season 6? Here's everything we know about Bosch season 6.
In terms of the sheer number of original titles, Amazon Prime is far behind Netflix but their quality is definitely up there. One such quality program that can stand up against any Netflix show is Bosch which is 5 seasons in as we speak and doesn't seem to be showing any signs of slowing down. Season 5 only premiered in April but we already got some good news for all the fans. Let's dive right into it, shall we?
Yes, Bosch has been renewed for a sixth season but this news isn't actually new as we knew about this since before the fifth season even premiered. The renewal was very much expected as Bosch is not just a show over at Amazon but a special milestone for the company's streaming service. The show is now the longest-running one-hour series.
Amazon Studios' Head of Scripted Series, Sharon Tal Yguado. said: "As Prime Video's longest-running one-hour series, Bosch has long been a cornerstone of our scripted programming, and Prime members consistently clamour for more."
There is no official release date yet but we can be pretty sure that we will see it in April 2020. Amazon, unlike Netflix, keeps a very strict and consistent annual schedule. The last three seasons premiered around April and given the swift renewal we can expect another April release. Only the first two seasons premiered before April with season 1 premiering in February 2015, and Bosch season 2 premiering in March 2016.
The Bosch series is based on books by Michael Connelly but it is quite tough to look at the books for spoilers as the show doesn't tend to go in chronological order nor does it grab source material from one book at a time. Season 1 alone adapted 3 of Connelly's book.
"At that point, the first season was gonna be two books; City of Bones (2002) and The Concrete Blonde (1994) – ultimately there's only a small bit of The Concrete Blonde in there and it's really City of Bones and Echo Park (2006) in the first season, " Connelly says.
So let's not look to the book for information regarding the new season's plot but let's go into the story itself. The last season ended with Bosch murdering three would-be assassins after his cover was blown by an article in the Los Angeles Times. He then ultimately goes looking into the cold case murder of Daisy Clayton who is the daughter of a woman that he has been taking care of as she deals with a drug problem.
The end of season 5 also sees Detective Edgar putting himself in danger as he dives deep into an internal investigation.
Season 6 may pick up soon after where season 5 left off, dealing with the repercussions of some of the actions in the finale. We will in no doubt see Bosch provide Elizabeth Clayton with some answers regarding her daughter's murder.
In terms of the books, well it's anyone's guess which book they will be adapting for season 6 as book 2, 9, 10, 11, 13 and 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, and 21 are still remained to cover.
The Cast of Bosch season 6 will most definitely include Titus Welliver as Harry Bosch. That's a given. We can also expect Jamie Hector to return as Harry's partner, Detective Jerry Edgar. Amy Aquino is also expected to return as Lieutenant Grace Billets, will Lance Reddick as Deputy Chief Irvin Irving, Madison Lintz as Maddie Bosch, and Sarah Clarke as Eleanor Wish.
