Will the Rayburns be returning for one more season?
When Netflix first introduced us to the Rayburns in 2015, we didn't know what to expect of them. Then, three seasons later, we now know too much about them and their affairs. So much, so that some people may have ultimately wanted to leave the Florida family and move on to the next secretive and intriguing family.....The Byrdes maybe?
Todd A. Kessler, Daniel Zelman, and Glenn Kessler had created a gripping tale of betrayal with Bloodline and it was positioned as a promising rival to House of Cards and Orange Is the New Black, the OG titles that started the streaming revolution only a couple years earlier. However, in 2017, the series lost its steam in Season 3 and now, six years later, are we going to get another season of the Rayburns? Let's explore, shall we?
Bloodline has been officially canceled and will not be returning for a fourth season.
Netflix announced the renewal of the third season back in July 2016, and they later announced that it would be the third and final season of the show.
There are a few theories as to why the show was canceled. Some say that the show simply ran out of steam. Others say that the writers were unable to come up with a satisfying ending. Others say that Netflix was simply not happy with the ratings.
Another plausible reason for the show's cancelation was new financial problems associated with filming in Florida. According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, The State of Florida cut its Entertainment tax-incentives program which ultimately would make the show more expensive to make.
Whatever the reason, the cancellation of Bloodline was a disappointment to many fans. The show was well-written, well-acted, and suspenseful. It was a shame to see it end so abruptly.
There was talk that Netflix was developing a limited series called "Bloodline: The Final Chapter" but we haven't heard anything about it just yet. We'll update this space when new information comes our way.
After Marco's murder, Kevin turns to Roy Gilbert for help covering it up. Gilbert devises a plan to frame O'Bannon for the murder, but Kevin nearly dies in the process.
The impending trial further divides the Rayburn family. Meg goes into hiding, Kevin becomes more involved in Gilbert's shady dealings, and John is consumed by guilt for Danny's death.
Meg flees to Los Angeles. Ozzy kills himself after being captured by Gilbert's men. Gilbert dies of a heart attack, and Sally reveals the Rayburns' dark secrets. O'Bannon is convicted and sent to prison.
Kevin is arrested for drug smuggling. Sally confesses that she hated John and Kevin, and that Danny was her favorite. John is torn about whether to tell Nolan the truth about Danny. The series ends with John and Nolan about to have a conversation.
