'Blood of Zeus' Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

Blood Of Zeus skyrocketed its way to Netflix's Top 10 in less than a week since its release. Will the success serve as a go signal for season 2?

Blood Of Zeus

'Blood of Zeus' was released on Netflix in late 2020, but the animated series' spectacular performance on the platform already had us wondering about a follow-up season. The series is created by Charley and Vlas Parlapanides and produced by Powerhouse Animation Studios, the same studio behind other popular Originals such as Castlevania and Seis Manos. 'Blood of Zeus' follows Heron, the demigod son of Zeus, as he tries to save Olympus and Earth from the wrath of his half-brother's demonic army and the jealous Goddess Hera. The series dropped on Netflix on October 27, 2020, and has since made waves globally. After a highly successful season 1, let's find out what's next for the series.

Has 'Blood of Zeus' Been Renewed For Season 2?

Great news! The hit anime series is indeed coming back for more! The news of the renewal came in December 2020, and Netflix shared the announcement through a social media post that read:

"The Fates have news! Heron's adventures will continue in season 2 of Blood of Zeus."

The renewal isn't surprising, though, especially with the anime series' stellar performance. In less than a week, the anime series managed to enter Netflix's top 10 lists in different regions worldwide. Blood of Zeus made it to third in the US Top ten list, sitting next to The Queen's Gambit and The Haunting Of Bly Manor, respectively. We've already anticipated for the renewal to arrive at least a month since the series premiered, and we were ecstatic to know that we were right.

The Plot: What Will Happen In Blood Of Zeus Season 2?

Season 1's intense finale left us pondering about what's likely to happen in season 2. There's a question regarding Seraphim's fate after Hades requires him to kneel to him to avoid his horrible fate of living in the Underworld. With Seraphim left with no choice but to serve the dangerous and ambitious Hades, Heron and the other Gods of Olympus are indeed in trouble. However, with Seraphim's arrogant and ambitious nature, he'll indeed find a way to get away from Hade's grasp. Another question is who will lead the Gods of Olympus after Zeus sacrificed himself to save Hera from the giants' wrath. After Zeus' death, the Gods of Olympus are left without a ruler.

The succeeding episodes, however, tell us that his son, Heron, will likely take over his place as the new leader. Heron used the same powers as Zeus to defeat his brother Seraphim in a battle, making us believe Heron's likely to follow the same path as his father. Lastly, we're wondering what would happen to Hera. The Goddess is yet to be seen after the epic battle between the Gods and the Giants. While Zeus' sacrifice may convince her to return to Mount Olympus, we're uncertain if the other Gods will welcome her. And how will she feel about seeing Heron, Zeus' bastard son, rose to the ranks? Will she learn to accept him? Season 2 will surely be exciting.

When Will 'Blood of Zeus' Season 2 Release On Netflix?

Netflix is yet to announce the release date for 'Blood of Zeus' Season 2. It will surely be a while before we can see Blood of Zeus season 2 especially since the Hollywood strikes put a pause on multiple productions. Animation projects take a long time to produce. We first heard about the series in a March 2019 announcement. However, it took more than a year before Blood of Zeus finally dropped on Netflix. Unless work for season 2 has already begun, we're likely to wait till mid or late 2024 before seeing Blood of Zeus again. Keep a tab on this space from time to time to keep posted on updates.
