Netflix's new comedy series debuted recently. Blockbuster comes from the creator of Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Superstone Vanessa Ramos. The first season is based in a workplace and this time the workplace is a video store which you might have guessed from the title itself. The show premiered on Netflix on November  3rd, 2022 with just 10 episodes and received mixed reviews for the same. The show sits at 5.1 on IMDB and 23% on Rotten Tomatoes. Here's everything we know about its season 2...

Is Blockbuster Season 2 Happening?

According to Deadline, the series was canceled only six weeks after its debut on Netflix. As we've discussed before, Netflix uses several metrics to determine whether or not to renew a series, and one important factor for a show like this is the number of viewers who watch the entire series. Despite being a notable production on Netflix, the series has been canceled during a difficult year for the streaming giant's comedy genre. Since May 2021, no new comedy series have been renewed by Netflix. There are several titles, including Hard Cell, The Pentaverate, God's Favorite Idiot, Uncoupled, Mo, Chad, and JT Go Deep, that are still awaiting renewal decisions, while Pretty Smart has already been canceled.

Vanessa Ramos spoke with The Hollywood Reporter and expressed her desire for more episodes, mentioning a plan to visit the last remaining Blockbuster store in Bend if the show were to be renewed. In a discussion with DigitalSpy after the show's premiere, Ramos mentioned that they are waiting for Netflix's decision and are managing their expectations regarding the future of the series.

What Could Have Happened In Blockbuster Season 2?

Let's go back to the very end of season 1, we saw the team beginning the episode by decorating the store. The episode then ends with Hannah watching the video of Aaron's failed proposal and finding out that Eliza is in love with Timmy. Vanessa Ramos spoke to SlashFilm and talked about the "bittersweet" finale, "For the finale, as a room, we were happy with it, and we had our fun stuff. Some characters, Connie and Patrice, had their win, which we also considered the other love story of the show. I don’t know that it came across after editing, but the Patrice character, her whole deal is her nail salon is Paris-themed, but she’s only been to the Paris Hotel in Vegas. So, there’s a slot machine. You see it in there on occasion, like, “Why is there a slot machine?” It’s because her reference to Paris is Vegas, and she thinks that’s the same thing."

The show features familiar faces like Randall Park and Melissa Fumero. Other cast members include Olga Merediz, Tyler Alvarez, Madeleine Arthur, J.B. Smoove, Kamaia Fairburn, Dan Shea, Keegan Connor Tracy, Leonard Robinson, Miriam Smith, Jayne Entwistle, Stephanie Izsak, Beverley Elliott, Zavien Garrett, Adam Beauchesne, and Nils Hognestad.
