Black Widow is getting her first solo outing in the MCU and here is everything we know about it so far.
Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow isn't new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. As a matter of fact, she has been one of the longest standing Avengers. Despite her veteran status she has yet to shine in her own movie, till now! Black Widow is finally getting a solo outing, no longer playing a side piece role and here's everything we know so far about it.
Black Widow is all set to be released in the UK and US on May 1, 2020. It was confirmed by Marvel Studios at Comic-Con that Black Widow will be the first film in Phase 4.
The Black Widow movie is set after the events of Captain America: Civil War. In the film, Black Widow is on the run from the US government after helping Fugitive Captain America escape with Bucky. She becomes isolated from the Avengers and finds herself going back home to handle some unfinished business from her past involving Red Room, the organization that trained her.
The trailer was released a few days ago and we finally got to see all the major cast members in action. We also get a peek into the storyline but it did not give away too much about the movie.
Scarlett Johansson has returned once again in her seventh outing as Black Widow. Other cast members include 'Stranger Things' star David Harbour and 'The Favorite' star Rachel Weisz. They will be playing Red Guardian and Melina, respectively.
Florence Pugh has also joined the cast as Yelena Belova who takes up the role of Black Widow after Natasha Romanoff. We can also expect to see O-T Fagbenle as Mason. At the moment, the role of Taskmaster has yet to be revealed.
Cate Shortland, the director of 2012’s Lore and 2017’s Berlin Syndrome is the director of the upcoming Black Widow movie.
