'Black Bullet' Season 2: Everything We Know So Far

Is Black Bullet returning for a new season and when can we expect it? Let's explore.

Burakku Buretto, which is also called 'Black Bullet,' is a post-apocalyptic action anime television series based on a light novel series of the same name, that fans have been obsessing about for the longest of time. The light novel series is written by Shiden Kanzaki and illustrated by Saki Ukai that got published on July 10, 2011. Immediately it got adapted into a manga series that got published for the first time on August 27, 2012. Some years later, after the manga adaptation, Black Bullet was made into an anime television series, and fans were more than happy to see season 1 on April 8, 2014. Even though it has been about eight years since the first season came on screen, fans never gave up hoping for the second installment to pop in on their screen. They still hope that their favorite manga and the light novel will get another season, as they loved the first season of Black Bullet. How about we try to pick the possibilities to find out whether it is not futile to hope for the second installment to take place? Here's everything we know so far.

Has Black Bullet Been Renewed For Season 2?

Renewal Status: Not Yet Confirmed/Most Likely Canceled

Black Bullet has not yet been renewed for season 2 and may never return. The show was not a financial success and the author himself has abandoned the series as no new volumes has been released in over seven years. The first season sold 2400 Blu-Ray versions and the light novel used to sell about 30,000 copies per volume. These are all terrible signs for the future of the show and I wouldn't hold my breath for a new season.

What Is 'Black Bullet' All About?

The anime series is set in the near future where humankind has been attacked by a fatal and disastrous virus called Gastrea. As a result, most people have no option but to hide behind the Monolith walls, which are made of Varanium and act as the only barrier against Gastrea. However, even with the walls guarding them, people fail to escape the epidemic since only female children born with the genome of the Gasteria virus gain supernatural abilities, and are therefore called 'Cursed Children'. To save humankind and destroy Gastrea, the government decides to form Civil Securities by teaming up the cursed children, nicknamed Initiators, with regular children, nicknamed Promoters, who must follow them. The pairs formed are capable of resisting Gastrea. The story follows the adventures of Enju Aihara, an Initiator, and Satomi Rentaro, a Promoter, as they try to save their hometown Tokyo, and the entire world from the deadly virus Gastrea.
