The original light novel series consisted of seven volumes, and the first season of Black Bullet covers only four of them.
Burakku Buretto, which is also called 'Black Bullet', is a post-apocalyptic action anime television series based on a light novel series of the same name, that fans are obsessing about for the longest of time. The light novel series is written by Shiden Kanzaki and illustrated by Saki Ukai that got published on July 10, 2011. Immediately it got adapted into a manga series that got published for the first time on August 27, 2012. Some years later, after manga adaptation, Black Bullet was made into an anime television series, and fans were more than happy to see season 1 on April 8, 2014. Even though it has been more than five years since the first season came on screen, fans never gave up hoping for the second installment to pop in on their screen. They still hope that their favorite manga and the light novel will get another season, as they loved the first season of Black Bullet. How about we try to pick the possibilities to find out whether it is not futile to hope for the second installment to take place? Here's everything we know so far.
No matter how disappointing it is to wait for the next season of the anime series, this is something we just do not have control over. What is, even more, sadder is the fact that there hasn't been any activeness or official news on the subject of Black Bullet getting a second season. This led to a lot of rumors that had continued to surface online, and it is advisable to check the official site and Twitter page of the show to know that this project has a very thin chance of getting season 2. However, we can still look at the odds of this anime getting a renewal.
As we all know that to make another season, a lot of factors matter, one of which being of great importance is the commercial feasibility of a franchise. Another thing we need to take notice of is the availability of the source material, and in the case of Black Bullet, we do not know a solid answer, as it is very vague. The original light novel series consisted of seven volumes and the first season of Black Bullet covers only four of them. On the other hand, creators need at least one more volume to adapt it for the next season. But, looks like they made a 26-episodes second season, because of which creators need time to collect and gather material and data to give this franchise another season. So, maybe the delay is happening because the creators are busy gathering data and sources as they at least need four volumes to adapt it for the second season. However, it is just a speculation and looks dicey as of now.
Another important point to consider is how the first season performed for the targetted audience. Looking at the scores and ratings, it does look that season 1 did perform well enough to get another season. Therefore, it would be unfair to shun all the possibilities and hope for the second season, since there are three volumes still left to adapt.
The anime series is set in the near future where a fatal and disastrous virus of Gastrea has attacked humankind. Because of which, most of the people get no other option than to hide behind the Monolith walls, the only hindrance or barrier against Gastrea, which is made of Varanium. But, unfortunately, even after being guarded by the walls, people fail to escape the epidemic since children born with a genome of Gasteria virus gain supernatural abilities, because of which people called them 'Cursed Children'. Weirdly, only female children are infected by the virus. To save the people and completely destroy Gastrea, the government decides to team up the cursed children nicknamed Initiators with regular ones, who are nicknamed as Promoters, who must follow them. The pairs formed are called Civil Securities, who are capable of resisting Gastrea. The story shows the adventures of Enju Aihara, an Initiator and Satomi Rentaro, a Promoter, who all are on a mission to save their hometown Tokyo, as well as the entire world from the virus Gastrea.
