It has been over 20 years since the original film was released and ever since then, The Crow has attained a cult classic status for a sad reason. Brandon Lee who portrayed the role of the protagonist, Eric Draven, tragically passed away in a freak accident that occurred on set. Due to Lee’s demise while filming, the original film went through several rewrites and used stunt doubles and special effects to complete The Crow before a theatrical release. Ever since then, several filmmakers and studios have attempted to revive The Crow once again for the modern audience but all the plans and speculations surrounding a reboot turned cold.

Finally, in 2020, the media caught up with the news about the reboot officially happening. Rupert Sanders and Zach Baylin were revealed as the directors and writers respectively and The Hollywood Reporter announced on April 1, 2022, about Bill Skarsgard starring as Eric Draven. Along with Bill, singer FKA Twigs will also join the primary cast. With the film adaptation of James O’Barr's comic book series on the verge of seeing daylight once again, Deadline has announced that the film has entered post-production after the filming concluded on September 16, 2022. Ashland Hill Media Finance is financially backing the whole project as of now.

The Crow of 1994 was followed up by not-so-successful sequels which included, The Crow: City of Angels in 1996, The Crow: Salvation in 2000, and finally The Crow: Wicked Prayer in 2005. The original story of The Crow followed a heavy metal guitarist of a band called Hangman’s Joke who was engaged to Shelly Webster and they were all set to tie the knot on Halloween night. But fate had something cruel planned for the duo as Eric and his fiance get murdered by a T-Bird-led gang. Eric is mysteriously revived by the crow a year later to exact revenge.
