Netflix's film adaptation of Ubisoft's 'Beyond Good & Evil’ is taking longer than expected.
Netflix and Ubisoft are teaming up to bring us movie adaptations of some of our favorite games from the developer! The streaming giant and the gaming monster have a couple of adaptations of high-profile games in the works, one of which is 'Beyond Good & Evil’-- an action-adventure video game with a cult following. 'Beyond Good & Evil’ was first announced in 2020. However, we still haven't seen a glimpse of the exciting project. It's been a while since the 'Beyond Good & Evil’ movie was announced. Sadly, there is still no release date as of this writing. The Netflix movie adaptation was first announced back in July 2020. During the announcement, THR revealed that “a search for writers to adapt the game is underway.” However, as of April 10th, 2023 we still haven't gotten any word on production.
We will continue to watch out for Netflix's update on the film.
‘Beyond Good & Evil’ is a mixture of live-action/animated films. Aside from its concept, not much is known about the plot of the movie yet. The film will be directed by Rob Letterman, whose previous credits include Detective Pikachu, Goosebumps, and Gulliver’s Travels. Letterman's previous works that incorporate CG to bring animated characters to life in live-action films are spectacular! With his expertise, we are confident that Letterman can easily pull off the upcoming Netflix adaptation.
‘Beyond Good & Evil’ is based on a video game franchise and follows the adventures of Jade, an investigative reporter and martial artist. She is an ally of the resistance movement, and they work together to expose a planet-wide alien conspiracy.
There are no official casting details yet as of this writing. The project has laid dormant for months now. Jason Altman is attached to produce the project. Altman serves as SVP and head of film and television at Ubisoft. He will be joined by Margaret Boykin, who serves as head of film development at Ubisoft.
Netflix's film adaptation for ‘Beyond Good & Evil’ has not entered production yet. Once it finishes filming, we expect the movie to remain under post-production for another extended period due to its heavy CG works. Hence, it will be a while before we can see its official trailer.
